ALBUM:HEAVEN AND HELL
ARTIST:BLACK SABBATH
YEAR OF RELEASE:1980
RATING:****
With the acquisition of former Rainbow vocalist Ronnie James Dio, Black Sabbath makes a stunning comeback on this early 80's masterwork. Sabbath seems to have undergone a major facelift, speeding up their riffs, delving into more fantasy oriented lyrics, and dropping the jazz elements too common to their Ozzy era albums. What results is a turn for the better. Containing such classics as "Children of the Sea" and the excellent title track, Dio quickly carved his own niche in the Sabbath legacy. Not only that, this album has been listed as an influence on many of the power metal bands putting out stuff today, which particulary shows in "Neon Knights". Highlights include "Heaven and Hell", "Children of the Sea", and "Neon Knights".
