ALBUM:ABIGAIL
ARTIST:KING DIAMOND
YEAR OF RELEASE:1987
RATING:*****

After the success of Fatal Portrait, the King returns with his crowning achievement. Abigail tells the story of the birth and rebirth of the evil character of the title, via the possession of one of the protaganists. The guitar interplay between Michael Denner and Andy LaRocque is superb, Mickey Dee's drumming is fantastic, and King's acrobatic vocal style lend a certain atmosphere to a fairly dark album. Nine excellent tracks, none of which I dislike, make this one of my favorite albums. Remastered version contains 4 bonus tracks("Shrine", and alternate versions of "A Mansion in Darkness", "The Family Ghost", and "Possession"). Stand out songs on an already great album include "Arrival", "A Mansion in Darkness", and "The Family Ghost".
