ALBUM:THE CODE OF LIFE
ARTIST:WARRIOR
YEAR OF RELEASE:2001
RATING:***

2001 hasn't been a real stellar year for metal so far(with some exceptions), but Warrior's Code of Life provides a nice change of pace. It's got a few power metal elements, some traditional metal elements, and a bit of a modern touch to it(not Korn/Limp Bizkit type stuff, just a heavier sound ala recent stuff from Halford and Bruce Dickinson, right down to an appearance by Roy Z). Melody fused with heavy, crunchy riffs, and an impressive vocal performance from Rob Rock(ex-Axel Rudi Pell) sets this disc apart from most of what I've heard this year. Not an awe inspiring disc per se, but still a nice breath of fresh air from the usual power metal stuff. Highlights are the awesome "Day of Reckoning", "We Are One"(which features Bruce Dickinson on backing vox), and "The Endless Beginning"
