ALBUM:COLONY
ARTIST:In FLAMES
YEAR OF RELEASE:1999
RATING:****
Out of all In Flames albums, this one is their best IMO. While I'm no fan of the deathy growl style vocals used by this band, the music more than makes up for it. This one has some excellent harmonies and melodies, harkening back to classic Maiden, even moreso than their previous releases. It doesn't exactly have a shortage of heavy riffs either. This is one of the few death voxed bands I like, and this album shows exactly the reason why. Only complaint is that it's too short. Mine is a little over 50 minutes, and that's including the 2 bonus songs on the Japanese version. Personal faves are "Ordinary Story", and "Embody the Invisible".
