Notes:Many of these films these creatures appear in take place in different "eras". The Showa-era includes all Asian Kaiju Eiga films from 1954-1974. These films often follow only a very limited or non-existent continuity, with previous films referenced or ignored on a whim. The Heisei-era begins in 1984, and includes all Kaiju Eiga films from that year until 1999. These films tend to follow a fairly defined continuity, even featuring recurring characters. The third and final Millenium-era includes all Kaiju Eiga films from 2000 to the present. These often have no continuity whatsoever, often mentioning Showa-era films(particularly the original Godzilla) for background purposes, but otherwise completely stand alone. Of the Millenium-era, Godzilla x Mechagodzilla and Tokyo SOS are the only 2 films that have anything to do with each other(Tokyo SOS being a direct followup to GxMG). Since the Heisei monster incarnations are often much more powerful and have more powers and abilities than their Showa counterparts, I have givem seperate entrys for the Heisei versions. The Millenium versions are often very similar to the Showa versions, with just slight alterations, so they are generally included in the entry for the Showa incarnation of the monster. One exception from the Millenium-era is the wordily titled Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah:Giant Monsters All Out Attack. This film deviates greatly from all other Godzilla films, giving Godzilla a supernatural origin rather than the atomic origin used in every other G film. Likewise, it greatly changes the origins of 2 other kaiju whose origins have been fairly consistent in every other film from every other era. Rather than being depicted as the guardian of Infant Island, Mothra is depicted as one of the guardian monsters of Japan, and it's servants(the Cosmos/Shobojin/Peanuts) are nowhere to be found. Even more bizarre, the space monster King Ghidorah, ALWAYS depicted as a towering, malevolent being whose power is on par with Godzilla's in every other film it's appeared is made to be a "heroic", Earth-born monster, smaller and signifigantly weaker than Godzilla. Due to the substantial differences in these 2 Kaiju, they GMK versions will receive their own entries.
Godzilla(Showa era):
Powers/Weapons:Godzilla possesses incredible strength, a powerful tail, sharp teeth, and can spew radioactive blasts from it's mouth. In later appeareances, he was given all sorts of bizzarre 1 time only powers, including the ability to generate a projectile repulsion field, to become magnetic, to slide along the ground on it's tail and kick foes, etc.
Methods of Travel:Land and Sea(and was once shown to move underground, and once, ridiculously, used it's breath weapon to FLY)
Godzilla(Heisei):
Powers/Weapons:In addition to the powers of the old Godzilla, the new version can generate a powerful "nuclear pulse" repulsion field effect to move close in enemies farther away. It's radioactive breath weapon can take on a red hue and become far more powerful by absorbing large quantities of nuclear energy(such as the radioactivity given off by the death of Fire Rodan).
Methods of Travel:In addition to land and sea, this Godzilla can move underground by swimming through magma.
Godzilla(Millenium):
Powers/Weapons:In addition to the powers of the Heisei Godzilla, the Millenium Godzilla has a few new abilities. He moves faster and with greater agility than his other incarnations, his claws and fangs are sharper, enhancing his melee abilities, and his tail is more flexibly and mobile making it a more powerful close combat weapon. In Godzilla vs Megaguirus he was also portrayed as a powerful leaper, and his dorsal fins were razor sharp, though these abilities are not present in other Millenium films. In several of the Millenium films, his dorsal fins become immensely hot when he prepars to fire his atomic ray.
Methods of Travel:Same as the Heisei version.
Baby Godzilla(Showa and Millenium aka Minya/Minilla):
Powers/Weapons:Minya does not possess many powers. He can blow smoke rings from his mouth, and can periodically manifest Godzilla's breath ray, but not often.
Methods of Travel:Land and sea
Baby Gozilla(Heisei-era, aka Baby):
Powers/Weapons:At first Baby does not possess any real powers. Over time, as it absorbs energy and grows, it begins developing abilities like the adult Godzilla, but on a smaller scale.
Methods of Travel:Land and sea
Rodan(Showa and Millenium):
Powers/Weapons:In addition to it's sharp beak, Rodan can generate strong winds with his wings and generates a destructive sonic boom while flying.
Methods of Travel:Rodan can move on land and under water, but it primarily flies.
Rodan(Heisei aka Fire Rodan):
Powers/Weapons:This incarnation of Rodan doesn't have the wing wind ability of the old one, but after absorbing Godzilla's radiation, he gains an impressive "Uranium heat beam" breath weapon of his own, similar to Godzilla's atomic ray but not as strong. His retains the rest of the original Rodan's weapons.
Methods of Travel:Unlike the old Rodan, this one seems pretty much limited to air travel.
Mothra-Larva Stage(all eras):
Powers/Weapons:Other than powerful mandibles, Mothra's only weapon is a strong silk which it spews from it's mouth.
Methods of Travel:Mothra can move on land and in water.
Mothra-Adult stage(Showa and Millenium era):
Powers/Weapons:In it's adult stage, Mothra's only real weapons are a poisonous "scales" attack which it drops from it's wings and the ability to generate powerful winds. The "scales" attack of the Millenium-era Mothra can reflect energy attacks, much like the Heisei era version.
Methods of Travel:Mothra can only fly in it's adult stage.
Mothra-Adult stage(GMK version)
Powers/Weapons:In addition to it's wing wind, this Mothra posseses the ability to fire a burst of stinger like projectiles from it's abdomen. In addition, when this Mothra dies, it has the ability to imbue another monster with energy.
Methods of Travel:Mothra can only fly in it's adult stage.
Mothra-Adult Stage(Heisei):
Powers/Weapons:The Heisei Mothra is far more powerful than it's other incarnations. This Mothra fires powerful energy rays from it's antennae and electrical bolts from it's wings. It can also channel it's wing lightning through it's touch if it so desires. Additionally it's scales attack has been altered into a stronger weapon. Rather than being toxic, It acts as an energy reflecting 3D "mirror", and any energy fired into it's area of affect is reflected multiple times against any foe caught under the raining powder. This ability has 2 uses. It can reflect the energy attacks of opponents caught inside the powder(as it did against Godzilla's atomic breath) and it can also direct energy from outside sources to the enemy caught in it's effect(when Battra fired his eye beams into the powder field they too were reflected multiple times against Godzilla). Also, unlike the Showa and Millenium Mothras, using it's scales does not seem to weaken it.
Methods of Travel:Mothra's only method of travel is flight.
Battra-Larva Stage:
Powers/Weapons:In it's larva stage, Battra can use it's large horn as a deadly weapon, and can energize it for even more destructive capabilites. It can also fire powerful, though inaccurate, electrical rays from it's eyes and horn.
Methods of Travel:While in it's larva stage, Battra can move both above and below ground and can also move at high speed though water.
Battra-Adult Stage:
Powers/Weapons:In it's adult form, Battra's only offensive weapon are the "prism beams" it projects from it's eyes. These rays are tighter and more accurate than the lightning rays of it's larva stage, making them more effective.
Methods of Travel:In it's adult stage, Battra is limited to flight.
Anguiras(aka Angilas, Showa and Millenium):
Powers/Weapons:Anguiras has no ranged combat weapons, but his fangs, spiked carapace, horns, and spiny tail are deadly in close combat. Angilas also displays strong leaping abilities and is very agressive. In it's appearance in Godzilla Final Wars, Anguiras would often roll into a ball and propel itself at enemies.
Methods of Travel:Angilas can move both above and below ground, and can swim as well.
King Ghidorah(Showa and Heisei, aka Ghidrah):
Powers/Weapons:King Ghidorah is a formidable monster, possessing three heads each with sharp teeth and horns. It can also spew a powerful electrical "gravity beam" from each of it's mouths and generate strong winds while flying. Two of Ghidorah's common attack methods are constricting an opponent with one of his necks, and knocking an enemy down and jumping on them.
Methods of Travel:Ghidorah can move on land, at sea, and most often, in air.
King Ghidorah(GMK version):
Powers/Weapons:Ghidorah begins it's life in a signifigantly weaker version than it's other incarnations. In this form, Ghidorah is primarily a ground based melee fighter, using it's necks and an electrified bite in combat. After absorbing Mothra's death energies, Ghidorah grows wings, and also gains the ability to generate a shield that absorbs and redirects an opponent's energy attacks. In it's final form, after combining with a mystical amulet, King Ghidorah finally mirrors his traditional incarnations, gaining his signature wing wind and gravity beam attacks. Both of it's later forms retain the electrified bite of the first form.
Methods of Travel:Ghidorah moves on on land and sea in it's initial form, after taking it's second form it gains the ability to fly.
Mecha-King Ghidorah:
Powers/Weapons:M-K Ghidorah's two remaining heads have the same capabilities as regular Ghidorah, however it's central head has been replaced by a cybernetic head which fires a more powerful beam. It can fire four cables with a gripping claw attached to grab and electrocute it's foes, and can also fire a much larger claw to carry and electrify it's foes, all from it's cybernetic chest plate. It also has a cybernetic enhancement at the end of each tail that appears to be a weapon, but this it's exact function is currently unknown.
Methods of Travel:M-K Ghidorah can move on land and can fly.
Mecha-Godzilla(Showa):
Powers/Weapons:At first, Mecha-Godzilla is indistinguishable from Godzilla with the exception of the color of it's breath weapon(an orange heat beam as opposed to Godzilla's blue nuclear blast) and it's roar. After it has revealed it's robot form, it becomes a veritable armory. Even though it inexplicably loses the mouth-mounted heat ray, it can fire multi-colored rays from it's eyes, missles and/or darts from it's fingers, toes, and knees, a destructive red ray from it's stomach, and can generate an electrified force field. In it's second appearance it has a control system that can fire blue rays once it's head cover is removed.
Methods of Travel:Mecha-Godzilla both moves on land and flies.
Mecha-Godzilla(Heisei):
Powers/Weapons:The new Mecha-Godzilla packs a substantial armament. It fires energy beams from it's eyes, a multi-colored "mega buster" ray from it's mouth, "paralysis missles" from ports in it's shoulders and "tranquilizer rockets" from hip ports, and can fire an electrified harpoon from a port in each forearm. In addition to these built-in weapons, Mecha-Godzilla has the ability to absorb and amplify energy attacks directed against it due to an artificial diamond coating, and redirect the beam from a "plasma-grenade" cannon in it's stomach. Mecha-Godzilla also has the capability to combine with the Garuda airship, becoming Super Mecha-Godzilla. In this form, the heavy masers of Garuda fold over M-G's shoulders for additional firepower. M-G is made of a heat resistant alloy for protection against Godzilla's breath weapon.
Methods of Travel:Like the old M-G, this version is limited to land and air travel.
Mecha-Godzilla(Millenium, aka Kiryu):
Powers/Weapons:The newest Mecha-Godzilla is also heavily armed. It mounts a double maser cannon it's mouth and has a double barreled laser attachment on each arm. For close combat, it can extend a sharp sword-like blade from a port on it's right wrist, this weapon can be electrified for additional damage. It is unknown if it has a blade in it's left arm as well. After Kiryu's underwent heavy maintenance, it gained the ability to form the fingers of it's right hand into a powerful drill for melee combat. It is unknown if this drill was a replacement for the blade(which was destroyed during Kiryu's previous battle) or if it was added as a supplementary melee weapon. Also, unlike previous Mecha-Godzillas, Kiryu's tail is mobile and may be used as a blunt weapon. In addition to these built-in weapons, Kiryu also mounts a weapons pack on it's back. This pack can launch guided missles from the sides and back, and folded over Kiryu's shoulders are pods firing unguided rockets. This pack can be launched as a slow moving blunt projecile designed to push an enemy away once it's ammunition is expended. After Kiryu underwent maintenance, this weapons pack received an overhaul. Instead of launching the pack at an enemy, the over-the-shoulder rocket pods themselves are explosive, and can be launched as slow but powerful missles when their rockets are expended, and the rest of the pack is then simply discarded. However, despite all these other weapons, the most powerful weapon available to Kiryu is it's chest mounted "Absolute Zero" cannon, a weapon capable of freezing a target to –273.15 °C. This weapon consumes ~40% of Kiryu's energy, limiting it's use in combat. After this weapon was damaged in battle and proved too expensive to repair, it was replaced with a triple "Hyper-Maser" cannon. Additionally, Kiryu is always accompanied by the "White Heron" control and transport jets, and while not part of Kiryu itself, these jets can utilize their dual chainguns to add additional damage to Kiryu's target.
Methods of Travel:This Mecha-Godzilla is primarily ground based, it can only fly for short periods of time.
MOGERA(Showa, aka Moguera):
Powers/Weapons:Mogera can fire energy beams from it's eyes, and can use it's drill like nose as a close combat weapon. It can also generate intense heat.
Methods of Travel:Above and below ground.
MOGERA(Heisei):
Powers/Weapons:MOGERA can fire plasma beams from it's eyes, maser beams from it's handless arms, which also open to reveal a "spiral-grenade" launcher, and has a powerful energy beam in it's chest. The drill that is it's "nose" can be used in close combat. MOGERA can also split into two smaller vehicles, the flying Star Falcon and the burrowing Land MOGERA. The Star Falcon fires the plasma beams from it's wings, and Land MOGERA uses the arm masers of the combined MOGERA, it's drill, and a top mounted laser as offensive weapons.
Methods of Travel:Due to Land Mogera's treads, it can move at high speeds on land, and can also fly do to thrusters in it's feet and tail.
Space-Godzilla:
Powers/Weapons:S-G has the same physical capabilities of Godzilla, though it's other abilities are quite different. It can generate massive crystal structures, which channel cosmic energy into the crystal spikes on it's shoulder enabling it to fire a powerful cosmic Corona beam from it's mouth and shoulders. It is telekinetic as well, enabling it to move opponents with it's mind and allowing it to fire the crystals as large missles. While flying, S-G is almost completely covered in crystal spikes which can be used for ramming purposes. It can also seemingly generate an electical charge through it's spiked tail to stop foes from grabbing it and generates an EMP field to disrupt nearby electronics. For defense, S-G can generate a force screen that reflects energy attacks.
Methods of Travel:In addition to the afore mentioned flight capabilities, S-G can move on land and most likely water as well(it was never shown to move in water but since it was made from G-Cells, I think it's a safe assumption)
Destroyer-First Aggregate:
Powers/Weapons:In it's first form, Destroyer can generate a blast of micro-oxygen capable of reducing an adult fish to a skeleton. This form is microscopic, but large numbers of them would be a threat to larger objects.
Methods of Travel:The only known method of travel is via water.
Destroyer-Second & Third Aggregates:
Powers/Weapons:In it's second and third stages(which are almost identical other than size), Destroyer has forelegs ending in large spikes, and has an extending double jaw through which it can inject micro-oxygen. It can also fire deadly bolts of mirco-oxygen from it's mouth.
Methods of Travel:Both of these aggregates travel on land, and the third can also fly. Both versions can also travel though water.
Detroyer-Final Aggregate:
Powers/Weapons:In it's final form, Destroyer is one of the most powerful monsters ever known. It's sharp teeth, claws, and tail are lethal in close combat, and it's horn acts as an incredibly powerful energy sword. It's tail ends into a crablike claw, capable of holding onto and dragging something the size of Godzilla. It's micro-oxgen beam is also more powerful than ever. As a last resort, it can also split into it's smaller aggregate forms to harry a foe from multiple directions, then recombine to finish it's enemy off.
Methods of Travel:Destroyer's final form can move on land and can fly as well. It can also probably move in water, but it is unknown for sure.
Gorosaurus:
Powers/Weapons:Other than it's powerful jaws and brute strength, Gorosaurus can execute a kangaroo type jumping kick to knock over it's foes. This kick strikes with enough force to knock down an enemy as large as King Ghidorah.
Methods of Travel:Gorosaurus can move both above and, oddly enough, below the ground, and can most likely swim(unless it managed to burrow all the way from Ogasiwara Island to Paris at incredible speeds...)
Baragon(Showa and Millenium):
Powers/Weapons:Baragon's claws, tail, and glowing horn are useful in close combat, and at distances can project an incendiary ray from it's mouth(many pictures show an electrical blast from it's mouth or horn, but in the movie itself it's an incendiary ray). The Millenium-era Baragon never displayed the heat ray ability. In addition to it's offensive abilities, Baragon has amazing leaping abilites, almost so that it appears to be flying.
Methods of Travel:Baragon moves above and below ground. Other movement capabilites are at this time unknown. It's likely that the creature can swim, as well.
Varan:
Powers/Weapons:Varan has no known capabilites other than it's own brute strength.
Methods of Travel:Varan is equally at home on land, at sea, or gliding in the air
Manda(Showa and Millenium:
Powers/Weapons:Other than it's constriction abilities and strong jaws, Manda has no offensive weapons.
Methods of Travel:Manda moves slowly on land and rapidily under water.
Kumonga(aka Spigas, Showa and Millenium):
Powers/Weapons:Kumonga can spew a strong silk to immobilize prey, which it then finishes off with a poisonous spear-like stinger in it's mouth(why it has a stinger instead of fangs like normal spiders is unknown.). In it's Millenium incarnation, it could fire it's silk like a net in addition to a straight spray, and also gained signifigant leaping ability. It's powers are otherwise identical to the original Kumonga.
Methods of Travel:Aside from it's land movement, Kumonga can apparently swim(how else did it get from Ogasiwara to Mt. Fugi?). It can also burrow, though rather it can actually move undergroud is undetermined.
Kamacura(aka Gimantis, Showa and Millenium):
Powers/Weapons:Other than strong claws and mandibles, the Kamacuras are unarmed. The Millenium-era Kamacuras gained the ability to change color to blend in with their background, much like a chameleon.
Methods of Travel:Gimantis can move on land and through the air.
Monster X:
Powers/Weapons:Monster X possesses great strength, agility, and combat ability, a powerful forked tail, and can fire a powerful energy ray from it's head(s). This beam actually consists of 3 intertwined beams and as such is more potent than a single energy beam.
Methods of Travel:Only land is shown, though others are possible
Monster X2(aka Keizer Ghidorah):
Powers/Weapons:In this form, Monster X takes on the appearance of a 4 legged version of Ghidorah. It has 3 heads with horns and sharp teeth, a powerful forked tail, and sharp claws. Each head can fire the gravity beam weapon used by Ghidorah, though it can arc and angle these blasts in various directions. It can also use these beams as a form of tractor beam, allowing it to manipulate foes from a distance.
Methods of Travel:Only land is shown but it has huge wings so can likely fly. May have other forms as well, but this is unconfirmed
Millenian
Powers/Weapons:In addition to his tendrils, the Millenian can absorb DNA of other creatures, allowing him to take on some of their abilities. Through use of this power, he transformed into the more monstrous Orga. He also maintains telepathic control over his UFO, which is armed with an energy cannon.
Methods of Travel:Only land is shown.
Orga:
Powers/Weapons:In addition to it's massive claws and hands, Orga can project a power energy beam from a cannon in it's left shoulder. He also possesses a distendable jaw(like that of a snake), allowing him to swallow prey whole. He can absorb DNA of other creatures, allowing him to take on some of their abilities. Through use of this power, Orga has regenerative abilities on par with Godzilla.
Methods of Travel:Only land is shown, but since he absorbed Godzilla's DNA he can likely swim.
Gigan:(Showa)
Powers/Weapons:Gigan's hands have been replaced with huge hook-like claws, and interestingly enough, it has a large buzzsaw nestled in it's chest. It is shown in advertisments as being able to fire a ray from a hole above it's eye port though it is never shown using it in any of the films(the hole is there though...)
Methods of Travel:Gigan can move on land, and can additionally fly via a thruster at the base of it's "wings."
Gigan:(Millenium)
Powers/Weapons:Gigan's hands have been replaced with huge hook-like claws, and interestingly enough, it has a large buzzsaw nestled in it's chest. From it's eye it can fire a powerful energy weapon known as a "Cluster Light Beam" or "Shotgun Laser" that strikes multiple locations on a single target simultaneously. It can also launch what appear to be some form of chain or cable from below it's wrists, which wrap around foes and are then used to drag them into it's buzzsaw.
Methods of Travel:Gigan can move on land, and can additionally fly via a thruster at the base of it's "wings."
Gigan Upgraded:(Millenium)
Powers/Weapons:Gigan's normal hooklike claws have been replaced with chainsaw bladed vice grips, though it retains it's chest buzzsaw and Shotgun Laser. Additionally, from ports in it's chest it can launch disc shaped blades that can even penetrate kaiju flesh. It is unknown whether or not the upgraded Gigan retains the ability to fire the chain cables.
Methods of Travel:Gigan can move on land, and can additionally fly via a thruster at the base of it's "wings."
Megalon:
Powers/Weapons:At long ranges, Megalon can project an electrical beam from the star shaped horn on it's head, and can also spit explosive napalm grenades. At closer ranges, Megalon can use it's arms as powerful drills.
Methods of Travel:Megalon can not only move on land, but can swim, fly, and burrow.
Titanosaurus:
Powers/Weapons:In addition to it's strength and powerful jaws, Titanosaurus can use it's fan like tail to generate powerful winds. In water, it can swim rapidly with it's tail fan extended to generate whirlpools. It is one of the more unorthodox close combat fighters amongst kaiju, using not only it's claws and teeth, but also throwing uppercuts, headbutts, and kicks.
Methods of Travel:Titanosaurus is equally at home at land or sea.
Meganulon(Showa and Millenium):
Powers/Weapons:The meganulons possess powerful mandibles. The Millenium-era meganulons can spit some sort of fluid, but it's exact function or purpose is unknown.
Methods of Travel:These creatures dwell underground, but they can move on land and swim as well.
Meganura:
Powers/Weapons:The meganuras possess powerful mandibles. They also possess a sharp stinger, with which they can absorb energy from other creatures, and transfer to their queen.
Methods of Travel:Primarily flight, though they can swim.
Megaguirus:
Powers/Weapons:Megaguirus possesses powerful mandibles, sharp pincers, and it's wings are razor sharp. It also also possess a sharp stinger, with which it can absorb energy from other creatures. It can then project this stolen energy as a powerful energy ball attack if pressed. The creature generates powerful winds and sonic booms when it flies, and it can also briefly fly at hypersonic speeds(moving so fast it becomes blurry), allowing it to make potent hit and run attacks. When it does this, it generates an EMP field shorting out electronics.
Methods of Travel:Primarily flight, though being born underwater, it can likely swim.
Ebirah(Showa and Millenium):
Powers/Weapons:Ebirah's only weapons are it's claws. One claw is very large and is used for gripping and bashing, while the other claw is smaller, with a long point to impale it's prey.
Methods of Travel:Ebirah is primarily a water dweller, but occasionally makes brief forays onto land.
Ganime:
Powers/Weapons:Ganime's primary weapons are it's claws. However, it can also spew coalesced sea water from it's mouth.
Methods of Travel:Ganime can move on land and in water.
Gezora:
Powers/Weapons:Gezora's primary weapons are it's tentacles. In addition to their use for striking and grasping, they caused frostbite when used to grab humans(it is unknown if they would have any effect on another kaiju, who tend to resist extreme temperatures fairly easily).
Methods of Travel:Gezora is primarily a water dweller, only moving slowly and awkwardly on land.
Kameba(aka Showa and Millenium):
Powers/Weapons:Kameba's only weapons are it's claws and it's immensely strong jaws. It's neck has a long reach, allowing it to bite foes from a surprising distance away. Defensively it possesses a strong shell.
Methods of Travel:Land and sea.
Giant Octopuses(aka Oodako):
Powers/Weapons:The various giant octopuses that appeared in Toho movies all constrict their foes with their tentacles.
Methods of Travel:The Octopuses can swim and can also slither about on land.
King Seesar(aka King Caesar, King Seesaw, Showa and Millenium):
Powers/Weapons:The leonine King Seesar has only one ability other than it's strength: The ability to catch energy rays with it's eyes and then redirect them towards it's attacker. This ability is not demonstrated in the modern incarnation of King Seesar, but it is also never given a chance to use it so it is unknown if it still has this ability. Both versions display excellent hand to hand combat abilities, the Showa era Seesar at one point using a judo hiptoss and a dropkick, and the Millenium incarnation throwing a potent roundhouse kick.
Methods of Travel:Land and most likely sea.
King Kong(original and remakes):
Powers/Weapons:King Kong has no abilities beyond it's brute strength and fighting abilities.
Methods of Travel:King Kong can only move on land(AFAIK).
King Kong(Toho):
Powers/Weapons:This Kong is not only physically strong, but can absorb electricity to channel though it's hands.
Methods of Travel:Land and Sea.
Gabbera:
Powers/Weapons:Gabbera generates electricity with it's horn which it can channel into an opponent by grabbing them.
Methods of Travel:Other than land, unsure(for that matter, it's likely that this monster in only a figment of a young boy's imagination, but I'm including it here just in case.)
Gamera(aka Gammera, Showa):
Powers/Weapons:Gamera has one offensive weapon besides his huge fangs, the ability to breathe out jets of flame. His shell is almost inpenetrable allowing him considerable defensive ability as well.
Methods of Travel:Not only can Gamera move on land and in water, but he can tuck his legs into his shell and fly as well.
Gamera(Heisei):
Powers/Weapons:Gamera has several offensive weapons. Besides his huge fangs and claws, he has the ability to breathe out fast moving exploding balls of plasma. The strength of these plasma balls can be increased by absorbing flame and heat energy. He has bone blades/claws on his elbows as well, and he can retract these when not in use. In emergencies, he can absorb the lifeforce of the planet, and project it from an opening in his chest as a massively powerful "mana beam". During one battle, Gamera's right hand was severed, but by exposing the stump to flame he was able to generate a powerful burning "mana fist". It is unknown if he could use this ability to replace other limbs. His shell is almost inpenetrable allowing him considerable defensive ability as well.
Methods of Travel:Not only can Gamera move on land and in water, but he can tuck his legs into his shell and fly as well. The modern incarnation of Gamera flies much faster and with more agility than the old one. The modern version of Gamera also appears to be able to move underground, at least for brief periods.
Gyaos(Showa and Heisei), Hyper Gyaos(Heisei), and Space Gyaos(Showa):
Powers/Weapons:The primary weapon of all the Gyaos' is a sonic beam which can slice through nearly anything. The modern Gyaos must take a few seconds to build up the energy to unleash this attack, a rare instance of a modern kaiju having a less effective weapon than it's original incarnation. In addition, it can generate strong winds with it's wings and can project a yellow fog which extinguishes flames from it's chest. The Heisei Gyaos cannot release the fog, but it also lacks the old Gyaos' weakness to flame making it unnecessary. The Space Gyaos is simply an extraterrestrial Showa Gyaos without a vulnerability to sunlight, and the Hyper Gyaos is a larger, sunlight resistant Heisei Gyaos.
Methods of Travel:Primarily a flyer, Gyaos can also move on land.
Irys:
Powers/Weapons:The vaguely Lovecraftian kaiju Irys is a powerful foe in melee combat. It possesses multiple tentacles ending in sharp spear like blades and it's arms are like lethal swords, capable of penetrating kaiju flesh and absorbing that kaiju's energy. For ranged attacks, it fires beams from it's tentacles(since Irys is speculated to be a mutated Gyaos, it's possible these are a form of the Gyaos' sonic cutter). After absorbing another kaiju's energy, it can project their ranged attack from it's tentacles instead(as it did with Gamera's plasma fireballs).
Methods of Travel:Irys can move on land, and is an excellent flyer.
Legion:
Powers/Weapons:For close combat, Legion has multiple sharp swordlike legs and a large horn. At range, Legion can fire an "EM Beam" from it's horn, and if the horn is torn off, it can launch devastating laser whips from the stump, which can even pierce Gamera's shell. It can generate an energy shield for defense, and it also commands the Legion Soldiers, and can summon them to aid it if necessary.
Methods of Travel:Legion can move on land, below ground, and can also fly.
Legion Soldiers:
Powers/Weapons:The Legion soldiers only attack in melee with their sharp claws and mandibles.
Methods of Travel:The Legion Soldiers can move on land, below ground, and can also fly.
Barugon(Daiei):
Powers/Weapons:This Barugon packs several offensive weapons. In addition to it's horn and teeth, it's extending tongue acts as a battering ram and can emit a gas which freezes upon contact. It also fires a rainbow(!) from the spines on it's back which destroys what it comes in contact with. This Baragon seems to have a sort of "danger sense", as it used this weapon to destroy artillery being prepared for use against it, before they ever got a chance to fire. Like Toho's Baragon, this one has amazing leaping abilities as well.
Methods of Travel:Baragon is primarily a land dweller as water can kill it(though in one scene it is shown swimming...)
Zigra:
Powers/Weapons:This odd looking creature not only has the capability to fire a paralyzing ray from it's nose, but has razor sharp fins on it's back. It also possesses a spaceship armed with destructive, mind controlling, and earthquake inducing rays.
Methods of Travel:Zigra mainly travels underwater, but can also move on slowly on land.
Guiron:
Powers/Weapons:This monster is probably the strangest looking monster in Kaiju history, with a head that functions(and looks) like a giant butcher's knife. This blade can reflect certain energy attacks as well. It can also project shuriken like projectiles from indentions on the sides of it's head.
