ALBUM:NUMBER OF THE BEAST
ARTIST:IRON MAIDEN
YEAR OF RELEASE:1982
RATING:***

This is IMO one of the most influential albums in metal. Though having released 2 albums previously, this is the album that brough Iron Maiden into the spotlight(sometimes due to the false assumption that the album was Satanic.) With the acquisition of Bruce "The Human Air Raid Siren" Dickinson on vocals, Maiden released what was to be one of their best albums(and also started the operatic vocal trend.) Filled with the now classic "galloping bass" of Steve Harris, the excellent harmonies of Dave Murray and Adrian Smith, and Bruces screams, the album is widely considered a metal classic. One of my fave. IM albums. Highlights:Title track, "Hallowed Be Thy Name", and "Total Eclipse"(which only appears on the OOP Castle reissue as a b-side and the 1999 Raw Power rerelease)
