ALBUM:SYMPHONY OF ENCHANTED LANDS
ARTIST:RHAPSODY
YEAR OF RELEASE:1998
RATING:*** 1/2
This album is Rhapsody's follow up to their bombastic debut(Legendary Tales), continuing the rather goofy fantasy themed story begun in that album. Everything good about the first remains in place:the classical instruments(21 in all), orchestration, the epic feel, and the excellent musicianship of the band. Unfortunately, everything bad about that disc remains in place as well:the HORRID narrator, the terrible lyrics, the excessive wankery in some tracks, the whiny high pitched vocals, and several boring moments. Still, if you're a fan of bombastic, symphonic metal, getting this album should be a priority. Highlights include "Epicus Furor/The Emerald Sword" and "Wisdom of the Kings".
