ALBUM:SOMEWHERE OUT IN SPACE
ARTIST:GAMMA RAY
YEAR OF RELEASE:1997
RATING:****
My favorite album by speed/power metal gods Gamma Ray. Loads of brilliant speedy guitar by the master, Kai Hansen, excellent drumming by Dan Zimmerman, and a much improved vocal perfomance by Kai as well(as great as he is on guitar, he hasn't gotten really good vocally until this album). Not a concept album, but there are many songs involving space travel and extraterrestrial life, including songs connecting the pyramids to alien life forms. While some people may think it's too cheesy, if you're a fan of sci-fi(as I somewhat am), they're just fine. Highlights include the title track, "Beyond the Black Hole", "Valley of the Kings", and "The Guardians of Mankind".
