ALBUM:THE CHEMICAL WEDDING
ARTIST:BRUCE DICKINSON
YEAR OF RELEASE:1998
RATING:*****

Proving that he didn't just get lucky with "Accident of Birth", Bruce rages back into the metal scene with his latest solo release. Combining bone-crushing heaviness with excellent melodies and vocals, "The Chemical Wedding" is easily one of the best releases of the 90's, surpassing not only the last Bruce album, but most of his work with Iron Maiden as well. Lyrics are a semi-concept album based on the works of poet/alchemist/painter William Blake, and are quite exceptional themselves. Brilliant from start to finish, this album belongs in the collection of anyone seriously into metal. Stand outs include "Trumpets of Jericho", the title track, and my favorite, "Book of Thel".
