The Stock Dress Stock Pile

There are certain dresses that are clearly the "standard" dawn dresses: Dawn's blue halter neck with white miniskirt, and Angie's pink dress come to mind.

Another really popular variation is the colored bodice with lame zig-zag striped skirt. I have seen it in both red and orange.

Jessica's stock dresses tend to run to a single color (orange, lime green, red) with a big white belt and a matching hat. This striped number seemed unusual to me. (What airline does she work for, anyway?)

But apparently Topper really had a party with the unnamed stock dresses. So to help in the identification of what appear to be an innummerable (and unnamed?) quantity of Dawn clothes, I am posting pictures here of dresses that I have been led to believe are less-frequently seen, but nonetheless, stock dresses.

This nice stock dress has, I believe, little chains hanging from the front. Chains and fringe are normally the hallmark of Dance Party stock dresses, but this dress shows it's hard to say anything definitively about stock dresses (IE: this dress for Dawn only, this dress only for Dance Party).

Below is my very favorite stock dress: it's a Dancing stock dress that I personally associate with Longlocks, although maybe it came with other dolls as well. (You can see it on Longlocks on the Dancing Display in Joedi's book.)

It is said in the Book of Joedi that Topper tried to unload a bunch of dresses at the end of their time, when the bankruptcy was nigh, and the quality of some of these dresses makes me think that they were created on the fly, with little concern for quality, and that they may have come from the last of the Dawn run. But some of these dresses are also very nice. (I like the striped sparkly "Dancing" stock dress, although I don't have a picture of it to post yet.)

If you know the name for any of these dresses, let me know! I can be reached at tamorama@juno.com.

This is Curly hair Glori in a wery interesting stock dress (she's missing a shoe: stayed too long at the ball, perhaps?). Dawn is in the same dress below. This leads me to believe it is a dancing stock dress: notice the fringy belt.

This is standard Glori in a cheap looking blue thing. (Box looks great, though!) This is an example of yet another "stock" style, my least favorite: a sheath with no waist (empire style?)with a sort of spaghetti-strap V holding it on the doll, usually with a little bow on the bodice, often with trim. It's been seen in velvet and the polyester stuff.

Here's a nicer style, still with the halter-top action, sort of similar to Toe Tapper.

Here are two Dancing Dawns in less common dresses: a green dress with a striped skirt(still with fringes) and the swirly dress with a poufy skirt (again). I've seen the plain top/print skirt in many variations: my favorite has an adorable flower print.

One of my favorite stock dress variations is the metallic brocade with a V neck. I have one in silver: here's one in red (to the left, please ignore the horrible pictures of lazy-eyed Jessica and her bunioned feet).
