Here I am, wearing my most Dawn-like dress, with my former best friend Mary Spencer in a bar in Scottsdale, AZ. I haven't talked to her since December 1997, and, although she was replaced by Ann Donovan, Ann has since decided not to talk to me so I am without an Official Best Friend. (Note: I don't actually smoke.)
This is me, Big Xena and Xanax at Neighbors in Seattle Halloween 1998.
Aren't they hunky? (I'm the one who doesn't have a tan.)
I am an Internet Cowgirl. I live in Seattle and I do have a life that has little to do with Dawn (alas!). Life was been very, very good to me the for a few years, then when I was laid off in March 2001 I started a year and a half in which I worked for only five months. Nonetheless, I spend little time working on this site and instead spend a lot of time gardening, playing with my dogs, and going to plays.
I used to work for a super cool company called Ark Space (which became a lame company called xSides, but you can still see what it used to be like at MySpace Online and get a neat internet apartment).
After that I worked at Onvia, way over near Lake Union, but I much prefer to work near Pioneer Square. I love downtown Seattle: there's so many great places to eat here! I ride my bike to work when the weather's nice. During the winter, it's overcast a lot and it's hard to remember we're surrounded by beautiful mountains, lakes, and island. But the second the sun comes out, everyone runs outside!
During the summer I spent a lot of time on the beaches of Lake Washington in the afternoon. I won't be doing that again for a while ... at least, not until I get a really expensive laptop. I'm hoping I'll be able to work in my gold lame' swimsuit (totally Dawn Beauty Pageant, but I don't wear it with heels) and take a quick dip when I get too warm.
I have an MA in political philosophy, hate coffee, beer, and seafood, love tea, margaritas, and Indian and New Mexico style mexican food. I listen to Early (classical) music, like the ballet, limit my TV watching to Xena and Friends. I used to play in a local Gamelan ensemble and a Viol Consort, but I'm kind of busy now that I'm working full time and don't have as many hobbies. (Taking care of my house is enough of a hobby.) I speak Chinese, French, and Spanish.
My favorite movie is probably either Blade Runner, Diva, or Star Wars. The best movie I saw in 1999 was The Flowers of Shanghai. This year I don't know what to recommend, but if you're going to rent a movie you might try my 1998 picks: Ma Vie En Rose or Under Heaven -- although A Bug's Life was more fun than either of those. I go to movies a fair amount, and like either highbrow foreign stuff or campy flicks of all stripes.
I'm married to a really nice guy named Jason who is a theatrical lighting designer. I graduated from Paradise Valley High School in Phoenix, Arizona in 1985, then went to Arizona State University across town in Tempe. I don't check my email so much any more now that I don't use my computer at home all day, but you can write me if you'd like and I'll eventually write back.
One of my friends who is an artist, Timothy Cummings, has some of his paintings on line if you'd like to look at them.
If you'd like to know more about my strange and ironic sense of humor, please visit the Tamagothi home page or Godzilla vs Tamagotchi. These are both quite evil! Of course, if you have never had a Giga pet the humor may be lost on you.
