My Favorite Faeries

Of the hundreds of fay I have known, I have a few favorites that seem to stand out.

Gwyllion- Welsh mountain faeries that sit quietly among the rocky mountainsides, freaking out travellers. I find that so romantic.
Gwregedd Annwn- Beautiful Welsh water faery maidens-now how cool does that sound?
The White Ladies- Who knows what these ladies are? They sound quite creepy though. My favorite name, Gwinevere, means "white phantom."
Titania- No, she has nothing to do with titanic. This is the English queen of the fay. The other fay sing her to sleep. She brings happiness and peace. :)
Twylwth Teg- This faery is actually quite evil, but she's still really cool. She kidnapps long blond haired little children. Yum.
Mab- Mab is the Irish queen of the fay, except she has quite a different reputation according to Shakespeare. She's still queen though.
Merrows- I'm sure we've all heard of mermaids before. This is the collective word for Irish merpeople. They wear red feather caps. Mermen are really ugly, but mermaids are beautiful and lull humans with their mellifluous voices. That reminds me of a certain Disney movie...
Asparas- Sky-dancers who bless humans at important stages in their life. They live in fig trees and distract scientists on the verge of a breakthrough so we don't venture into areas unfit for us.
The Asrai- Small delicate faeries that melt when exposed to sunlight. Aawww, how sad.
Banshee- Spelled Bean Si, in Scotland Bean Nighe. The Irish D eath spirit. She fortells d eath , and weeps for those who will die ("wailing like a banshee"). She has long flowing hair and wears long green dresses.
Aine- A faery godess.
The Green Lady of Caerphilly- She haunts ruined castles, appearing as ivy.
Hathors- Egyptian nature spirits; sky-dancers.
Lady of the Lake- A faerie who's palace is hidden underneath a lake (what we see is a lake). Mentioned in The Mists of Avalon, one of my favorite books.
The People of the Hills- English Fay who live under green mounds.
Sidhe- Irish fay attracted to beauty.
Star-Folk- Algonquin spirits who live in Star-Country in the sky, a beautiful land. Can cast spells on humans to fall ill.
