Origin: Dr. Neal Emerson was a successful Physician who worked towards using magnetism towards healing. After a while and some psycological help, he split into two personalities, one good and the other evil and on a conquest for ultimate power. When he figured out how, he endowed himself with great magnetic powers and adopted the persona of Doctor Polaris. The downful of DP was when halfway through a fight, Dr. Neal would take over and leave. Eventually Doc Polaris sold Dr. Neal's soul to Neron and cut the bastard loose. Now Doctor Polaris can kick serious ass, without that loser Neal holding his ass down.
