The minute wheels of the cassette spins the tape into action. I sit back and relax as a tune reminiscent of Bauhaus comes to mind. In the middle of hypnotic chords a male voice screams "Spiderweb." Welcome to Butterfly Messiah's world. More songs play and continue a mellow synthesized tune. The vocals mix with the music and Shannon's words are similar to Sky Cries Mary's lead singer Anisa Romero. Her voice beautiful and strong it leads into more synth sounds reminiscent of the New Age era. All in all, the demo played is full of electronic back beats and charming ambient style that will welcome the ears of various genres of alternative or electronic music.

So what is the inspiration for Butterfly Messiah? Celtic rhythms in "The Standing Stone" and other references of folklore are what drive the group. Perhaps the "Burning Angel" in the song itself is a call for people to remember the powerful music of the Celts in an age that welcomes synthesized beats. One can also speculate that the uprise of ambient music during the late 20th century also influenced the group in composing their unique style. Whatever the source of inspiration the group is certainly worth taking the time to listen to what they have. Just http://listen.to/butterflymessiah and become spellbound.
