Coffee With Mom 1

Coffee Challenge Story 1

Christina
March 1999

There was a challenge to write a story that starts with the sentence, "I had coffee with your mom."

This was my first one.

Paramount owns the Star Trek universe, I'm just paying homage.

Coffee with Mom

"I had coffee with your mom."

"You didn't! Please tell me you didn't. She won't understand...I mean..."

"Calm down." He took her hand. "It wasn't that bad. But then I've always liked your mother."

She laughed. "She wants me to go to the Academy. I have the grades and everything...But I can't. I know that it was on Voyager she met Dad and everything. But it's not my kind of life. I can't do it." She laughed. "Dad understands."

"I think your mom does too...You are her daughter after all."

"Dad says that too." She laughed. "Aunt Phoebe wants me to study in Paris." She put down her charcoal pencil. "She says I'm good."

Eugene Paris leaned over to look at the portrait. "Not bad. Do you think I could have it. Mom would like it."

"Sure." She handed him the piece of paper. "Be careful, the charcoal will smudge." She pushed her long dark hair off her face. "Did she say anything?"

Eugene grinned. "She says she looks forward to your first exhibit--and that if we elope she'll personally borrow Mom's Bat'leth."

"She did? Really?" She leapt into Eugene's arms.
