Tune: "McNamara's Band" (Traditional)
Idea stolen shamelessly from Bill Sutton's "Do It
Yourself"
I went to buy some updates, they said a thousand bucks
for new versions for Win 95; that price really sucks.
So I looked at all the graphics and I chose to make my own:
An operating system made from things you find at home.
Chorus:
Oh, IBM, Apple, Microsoft, the folks at GeoWorks,
I'll wipe from their faces all those dirty smirks.
Bill Gates makes dough from licenses, he doesn't want you to own
An operating system made from things you find at home.
Now take all this addressing for 32 whole bits.
That's just like 4 eight-bit cards and gave me quite a hint.
My good old Apple Basic will do the job just fine.
GOSUB those loops together, and don't spend another dime.
Chorus
I had to have some graphics that could draw inside a box
With some speed sufficient to knock off all your socks.
One program has impressed me since I was just a babe.
I'll splice from Turtle Graphics, and it will make the grade.
Chorus
I had to have some interface for a human touch.
Something automatic that doesn't need much thought.
My VCR Plus device has been a real aid.
I've hooked it to a COM port, and now my system's made.
Chorus
I've had my system running; I'll admit it's not the best.
The data isn't right and the graphics are a mess.
No program is compatible; it isn't worth a damn.
But it's just like Windows 95 run on Pentium.
Chorus
(Alt. last chorus:)
I've had my system running; I'll admit it's not the best.
The data isn't right and the graphics aren't blessed.
It quits at any old excuse and should be on a shelf,
But it's just like Windows 98 when run by Gates himself!
