A E Joe had curly hair, read poetry, and his eyes were so blue. E A He wore black sweaters well, and he rasped, "I want you." D A The next afternoon we did laundry in the dorm, and we talked 'til eight. E A When I realized I had paid for his clothes, it was already too late, (Chorus) A D For he's a lazy boy, and though I love him, I think it's a kind of hex, A E 'cause he does no work in the classroom, in the dorm, or during sex. D A You may say that I'm a doormat, but there's one thing that's clear to me. E A As long as I do work for him, we have interdependency. Joe said he didn't check the oil in his car, so I learned quick. He said he was proud of all I knew -- I was his genius chick. I'm majoring in physics and English, so I'm always under the gun, though my transcript will show the world that I only signed up for one, (Chorus) For he's a lazy boy, and though I love him, I think it's a kind of hex, 'cause he does no work in the classroom, in the dorm, or during sex. You may say that I'm a doormat, but there's one thing that's clear to me. As long as I do work for him, we have interdependency. Joe wasn't the person who knocked on my door late one night. She was a sophomore I had seen once with Joe, and she had her arms crossed tight. I asked her why it was she who came, though I should've seen the clues. She said Joe asked her to do it, 'cause he knew he couldn't break the news. (chorus skipped here) He called me up next Sunday night, with three papers to do. I said, "Honey, I'll gladly write one up and deliver it, just for you." Well, I copied from a book that the prof wrote and the Internet. The grades came out yesterday. Has he learned his lesson yet? (chorus) For he's a lazy boy, and though I loved him, it's over and now he's an ex, 'cause he did no work in the classroom, in the dorm, or during sex. You said I was a doormat, but now you can surely see How to turn the other cheek and take revenge through charity.
