Florida Vampires

St. Petersburg each year counts fewer births than those who die.
We haven't heard of murder sprees or painful voodoo cries.
What can stalk and kill and disappear when stiff winds call?
I know the awful answer now and with you share it all.

(Chorus)
Florida vampires are here to suck our blood.
They're buying up our land and they're drying up the mud.
Florida vampires are roaming through the night.
Are you yet afraid of the vampire's might?
Are you yet afraid of the vampire's might?

We were looking for a house, and an agent showed us ten.
He could only show them once at night, and never more again.
We had to view some houses that were closed and shut up tight.
Who would live in Florida in dank, eternal night?

(Chorus)

We went to coffeehouses that opened after dusk.
Some customers never drank and looked like empty husks.
A vibrant social scene where folks went home with their new friends,
but I wondered what would happen next and how the friendships end.

(Chorus)

Have you noticed pharmacies now sell an instant tan?
That some elderly gentleman are spry as Peter Pan?
Or resort town mayors who grow younger every year?
We're surrounded by the living dead and vampires, so I fear.

(Chorus)
