The Greenwood Tree

Tune: "Twelve Days of Christmas" (Traditional)

On the first day of summer camp my counselor said to me,
cut down the greenwood tree.

On the (nth) day of summer camp my counselor said to kill
eleven forest rangers,
ten desert vultures,
nine mating condors,
eight dancing black bears,
seven flying fish,
six humpback whales,
five golden eagles,
four horned toads,
three snail darters,
two spotted owls,
and cut down the greenwood tree.

On the twelfth day of summer camp the local jail arraigned
twelve campers for killing
eleven forest rangers,
ten desert vultures,
nine mating condors,
eight dancing black bears,
seven flying fish,
six humpback whales,
five golden eagles,
four horned toads,
three snail darters,
two spotted owls,
and cutting down the greenwood tree.
