History: Warren Worthington was born, as they say, with a silver spoon in his mouth. The heir to a fortune, life seemed as though it would always be easy for him. Even when his feathery wings sprouted at puberty, proclaiming his mutant genes for all to see, he never despaired. One of the original five X-Men, along with Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Beast and Iceman, he always seemed to be the light-hearted, high flying Angel. And indeed, his life was relatively easy, despite the many battles that he fought alongside the X-Men. He departed the team with Iceman, Beast and Marvel Girl after their battle with the the living island known as Krakoa. Seeing a new team of X-Men to take their place, Warren, along with the others, tried to move on to a normal life.

Normal life didn't last for long though, before he, Beast, and Iceman joined together once again to form a short-lived team called the Defenders. Following the demise of that team, he went back to the X-Men, and this time, things were very different. He almost lost his wings when he was kidnapped by a rogue band of mutants called the Morlocks. They took him back to their underground tunnels, their leader, Callisto, planning to keep him there as her "husband". The X-Men rushed to his rescue, and Storm won his freedom forever with her mortal wounding of Callisto, winning her the leadership of the Morlocks. Never truly feeling as if he were part of the new team, he drifted back and forth, mostly resuming his normal life as a millionaire, not picking back up his mantle of hero until the resurrection of Jean Grey and the formation of X-Factor. But here, too, his joy was to be short-lived.

Answering the distress call of the Morlocks, he ventured again into their tunnels alongside his team mates...but this time, he did not escape unscathed. Pinned to the wall and mercilessly beaten by the Marauders, his wings were shattered into thousands of bone fragments. He barely even clung to life as the rest of X-Factor swept him from the tunnels and to the hospital. It was there, by the direction of his lifeling friend Cameron Hodge, that his wings were amputated as gangrene began to set in. When he awoke, without his wings, without his pride, he felt he was no longer whole. Warren had embraced his mutant power, and loved it more than anything...even life. He set out to take his own life then, crashing a plane to the ground without even attempting to escape. His teammates thought him dead, indeed, he thought himself dead...until he woke once more.

Rescued from the moment of death by the fiend called Apocalypse, the villain knew that Angel desired to fly again more than anything else. Apocalypse granted his wish, albeit with a twist. He transformed him completely, giving him metal wings and blue skin and a new personality. He named him "Death", the fourth Horseman of Apocalypse. Apocalypse introduced the new Angel to X-Factor in a battle which would come to be known as The Fall of the Mutants. For all that Apocalypse had changed Warren though, his loyalty to his friends returned, and rather than killing them, as the villain intended, he turned on Apocalypse instead. But his troubles were only just beginning.

Betrayed by Cameron Hodge, he returned to his life to find his fortune gone, and his love, Candy Sothern, dead at Hodges hands. In a fit of rage, he used his new wings to behead his former friend, and left him for dead. In the meantime, he was fast discovering that his new wings had a sinister life of their own. Almost sentient, they would take control at times, sending out the projectile metal shards of his "feathers" at the wrong targets. He never could quite control them, and never reconciled with his new form. Once the jet-setting playboy, he was now a blue-skinned, metal-winged freak. Nonetheless, love returned to him, as did some of his money, and most recently...his wings. Without warning, without explanation, he shed his metal wings even as his old, feathered ones sprouted from his back. The high-flying angel once again, he feels whole and at peace with his new love, Psylocke, in his arms. Recently, he gave a piece of himself, of his soul, to save her life. What that will mean for him in the future, neither one is certain. He and Psylocke have recently left the team, and are presumed to be residing in England, Psylocke's homeland.

Strength level: Apart from his wings, Angel possesses the normal strength of a man of his age, height, and build who engages in intensive regular exercise. His wings have superhuman strength and can create enough lift to enable him to carry aloft at least 500 pounds in addition to his own weight. Known superhuman powers: Angel is a mutant who can fly by means of his natural. Fully feathered like a bird's, the wings have a very flexible skeletal structure, enabling him to press them to the back of his torso and legs with only the slightest bulge visible under his clothing. Angel's entire anatomy is naturally adapted to flying. His bones are hollow like a bird's, making him weigh far less than usual for a man of his build. His body is virtually devoid of fat and possesses greater proportionate muscle mass than an ordinary human does. His eyes are specially adapted to withstand high-speed winds which would hurt the average human eye. He possesses a special membrane in his respiratory system enabling him to extract oxygen from the air at high velocities or altitudes. Angel flies by flapping his wings, as a bird does. Though he generally flies below the height of clouds (6,500 feet), Angel can reach a height of 10,000 feet with little effort. With severe strain he can reach the highest recorded altitude of a bird in flight (African geese at 29,000 feet above sea level), but he can only remain that high for several minutes. He can fly nonstop under his own power for a maximum of approximately twelve hours. Contrary to some reports, he could not make a transatlantic flight solely under his own power. However, since his genetic alteration by Apocalypse, Angel may be able to fly for longer periods non-stop than he could previously.

Stamina: (lungs, throat, vocal cords) Superhuman, (rest of body) Athlete Known superhuman powers: Sean Cassidy is a mutant who has the same powers as his daughter Siryn, but who cannot use them in as many ways as she can. His powers function in the same way that hers do: he creates powerful sonic waves with his voice with which he can achieve various effects, often with the assistance of limited psionic abilities which function only in unison with his sonic power. The Banshee can use his sonic powers to propel himself through the air in flight, to shatter solid objects, to place human beings temporarily into a hypnotic trance, or to cause human beings to fall temporarily unconscious. Special limitations: Vocal cords susceptible to injury from excessive strain in using sonic powers
