One killed, four injured in Indonesia Maluku islands Indonesian Observer Friday, May 25, 2001 JAKARTA - Unidentified assailants killed one person and injured four others in the latest religious violence in Indonesia’s Maluku islands, news reports said Thursday. The attack happened on Wednesday in Kusu-Kusu village, near the region’s main city of Ambon, the state Antara news agency reported. Villagers said a woman was fatally stabbed, while another three people were injured when a homemade bomb exploded, according to the report. Antara did not identify the religion of the victims. More than 5,000 people have been killed in Muslim-Christian clashes in the Maluku archipelago, 2,000 kilometers (1,250 miles) northeast of Jakarta, since January 1999.
