September 25 we held our first official meeting to kick-off the 2004-2005 year for the ASA Clearwater Alumni Chapter. We have finalized the 2004-2005 Calendar of Activities, please see the website for current list of activities.

National update from Deb Dietrich:
Deb is the finance coach and team leader for District 7. She went to leadership training and has already held several meetings this year. She has 5 women on her team and they support 10 chapters with Finance, ASA Advantage, and Recruitment advice. National has put together a new structure and it has taken off nicely. There are 9 District Facilitators that each help the college chapters be financially responsible.
Pan Hellenic update from Nancy Cerwin:
October 4th is our Presidents Reception at the Clearwater Library on Drew. Don’t miss it! October 30th is our Literary Muse Luncheon at Alfano’s Restaurant in Clearwater. Lunch is $16 and you have a choice of Chicken Rosemary, Salmon Picatta, or Spinach Pie. Need the money by October 19th, make checks out to Clearwater Pan Hellenic.
General
· We passed out updated calendars and contact lists for the 2004-2005 calendar year. See the website if you couldn’t make it.
· We had our September Birthday celebration. Babs turned 101 and we had a birthday cake for her. Way to go BABS!
· Don’t forget October 9th Celebration at Foxy O’Tool’s 8585 Ulmerton Road for dinner and drinks. Spouses are invited. Along with a general October Birthday celebration and Doris Wedding Anniversary, we are congratulating Margaret Leinbach for obtaining her PA degree. Way to go Margaret!
· On September 25, Barb Santangelo was holding the first meeting for the Orlando chapter and Debbie Craig was holding the first meeting for the Southwest chapter. Way to go Ladies!
Chapter update from Sheri First:
· Sheri First distributed the chapter goals and announced chapter awards. Once again our chapter received Crown member status! We would like to maintain that status for the 2004-2005 year. See website for a listing of our goals.
· Founder’s Day is November 13, which is only 6 weeks away! We will be choosing from 2 entrees: Chicken or Steak, list was passed around. We will have a special program since this event will have 3 chapters participating. We will perform the Alumni Module and Joanne Zabaldo will be doing a Foundation presentation. Sheri will be putting together the evite and the favors for the Founder’s Day event.
· Fundraisers: Sheri First suggested the Gooseberry Patch Fundraising event for this year’s fundraiser. Motion moved and 2nd, motion passed. This fundraiser will allow the chapter to keep 58% of the profits, which is $8 back per order. Checks should be made out to Alpha Sigma Alpha. If you were not at the September 25th meeting and would like a catalog for the fundraiser please contact Sheri First. Order must be in by Founder’s Day November 13th with expected deliver on December 4th at the Spirit of Giving Breakfast at Doris McGahey’s home. You need to collect the money upfront for the orders.
· Pat Sampson reported that she is working on the budget for our ASA chapter.
· Julie Chace reported that she would be continuing to update the website.
· Julie Chace is to send out the Newsletter, contact list, and calendar of events to the group and via mail for the 8 members that require mail.
· Paula Cheshire will be spearheading a Scrape book party, so contact Paula if you are interested.
· The chapter received a thank you note from Suzie Shettle for the note we sent concerning her mother Elaine Green’s passing.
· The chapter received a congratulations note from Nora Tenboreck for our Crown recognition at the convention this past summer.
· Benta Vine sent a thank you note for our contribution.
· Nancy Coleman one of the headquarters executives husband passed away. The chapter will be donating $25 to Alpha Sigma Alpha foundation in his memory.
· The Director of Foundation position is available. Contact Cindi Smith 913-685-8836 crsmith921@kc.rr.com if you are interested and know anyone who is.

· Sue Fisher received Honorable Mention Award for her articles sent to the Phoenix. Way to go Sue!
