Maxwell Road Food Centre
If you happen to fancy turtle soup, you still have some luck in tasting it. Turning away from the Chinatown Food Centre, the Maxwell Road Food Centre is just nearby. This market is one of the oldest in Singapore. Hawkers still wash their dishes in a common area. The basins are made of concrete and water taps made of metal. To have a feel of its age, why not visit the market?

Satay Club at Clarke Quay
Another place to get good food is at Clarke Quay. The Clarke Quay Satay Club is a place with open air ambience. Although the stallholders are Malays and Indians, the customers are tourists and locals. They all flock there to have a taste of some mouth-watering satays.

And by the end of day, you go home with your hair smelling of grilled meat, but nothing beats this meal. For more information about Satay, click the link which says "Malay Food".

Roti Prata stall behind the Sultan Mosque The Roti Prata sold at Zhu Jiao Market is one of the best ones I have eaten. Others include the stall at the Adam's Road Market and the stall behind the Sultan Mosque divided by a double-laned road.

The taste of Roti Prata depends not only on the roti (bread), but also the curry. The curry accompanying the Roti Prata is an important criteria in distinguishing between the better Roti Prata from the other.

The second most popular food in Singapore is Chicken Rice. Chicken Rice is not a dish solely sold by only the Chinese. There are Malays who sell Chicken Rice as well. The Chicken Rice found at Bukit Batok Central mended by a Malay family is superb. The taste of the chicken always lingers in my mouth even after I have finished a plate. The stall at Margaret Drive also sells Chicken Rice which makes you crave for more. Though the chicken taste is a little too salty, I still recommend it simply because of its tender meat and reasonable price.
