A day packed with guests appearances, speaking engagements, and sports activities...

 

This was a busy day for both District Governor George and Spouse Mel, who both had to shuttle to and fro between events held at different venues in Quezon City, San Juan, Pasig City and Intramuros, Manila. The whole day was intended for speaking engagements, promotion and publicity, and sports activities at those various locations mentioned.

EVENT NO. 6 - GUEST APPEARANCES AND SPEAKING ENGAGEMENTS OF DISTRICT 3780 OFFICERS IN RADIO AND TV PROGRAMS.

Scheduled live interviews of the District Governor and other district officers with noted radio broadcasters in various radio programs and stations were arranged by Centennial President Carmelita "Carmi" Bergado.

The host clubs for this event were the Rotary Clubs of Cubao East, and Cubao EDSA.

EVENT NO. 7 - ROTARY FORUM AT CITY SCHOOLS, COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES

The most eloquent resource speakers were pitted to appear before student assemblies in various schools, colleges and universities to talk about Rotary's programs for the youth.

Among them were District Governor George Howard, Past District Governor Jesus "Jess" Laxamana of RC New Manila, PDG Melito "Bimbo" Salazar, Jr. of RC Diliman, PDG Efren Lim of RC Cubao East, Past President Roberto "Bobby" Bolanos, Centennial Presidents Raymund Catabijan and Ma. Concepcion "Maricon" Lupisan, and Rotarian Gabe Baradi. They conducted separate visits at the University of the Philippines, Ateneo de Manila University, and the Miriam Colleges School of St. Anthony.

Arrangements were made by Assist. Governor and Deputy Chief of Staff Enrique "Henry" Coralejo. The lead host club for this event is the Rotary Club of Loyola Heights.

EVENT NO. 8 - CENTENNIAL FORUM ON ROTARY CONCERNS

This event was a media forum with more than twenty newspaper reporters, radio broadcasters and TV crews as guests. The resource speakers were each interviewed live on the air and told the listeners about their clubs' community projects, as well as that of the district.

Power presentation of some projects were shown to the media. A TV press conference was conducted upon the arrival of District Governor George Howard, which was covered by IBC 13. This was preceded by  a live radio interview of the district governor. The TV crews from other channels, which were also invited and were in constant telephone contact,  had to run to other assignments and were not able to fit their presence into the district governor's tight schedule for the day. A question and answer forum with the newspaper reporters continued after the governor's departure for the Golf Tournament in Intramuros.

The host club that organized the media forum was the Rotary Club of Biak-na-Bato under the guidance of Centennial President Efren O. Docena, with the committee chaired by Rotarian Donato "Don" Flordeliza, Jr. The District Governor also extended support for the said event.

EVENT NO. 9 - THE CENTENNIAL GOLF TOURNAMENT

This event was again hosted by the Rotary Club of Biak-na-Bato, with the committee chaired by PP Valentin "Jun" Asuncion and co-chaired by Rotarian Antonio "Tonette" Castaneda..

EVENT NO. 10 - The group then proceeded to the "Puno ng Buhay" Commemorative Tree Planting activities, which was hosted by the rotary Club of Kamuning East, and took the rest of the day .

This event was hosted by the Rotary Club of Sta. Mesa and the Centennial Presidents.
