Sacramento,CA Concert 9/18/96
I had never been to a Hootie concert, so I didn't know what to expect.
I was not disappointed at all. To start off, the opening act was Bela
Fleck and the Flecktones. They were actually pretty good. Mark played
a song with them as a tribute to a founder of blue-grass music, I cannot
recall his name. Towards the end of the opening act, Darius came out and
did a bit of a regae medley with "Bad Boys" and "I shot the Sheriff."
Now it was time for the main act. They came out and played
"Be the one." Darius didn't get as emotional as he usually
does during that song. He did tug at his shirt a lot though.
Here was the Set List in no particular order:
Be the One
She Crawls away
Sad Caper
Silly Little Pop song
Tucker's Town
Old man & me
earth stopped cold at dawn
HoneyScrew
Before the heatache rolls in
Long train runnin'
(What's so funny bout) Peace, love and understanding
Tootie
Time
Look Away
Running from an Angel
Hold My Hand
I go Blind
Let her Cry
Only wanna be with you/Indigo girls cover (Closer to Fine)
Drowning
Hannah Jane
Mustang Sally
GoodBye
Some of the highlights were a toast to Sacramento during
Only wanna be with you, and a comment from Darius,
"Man, the Kings used to be good before you traded Walt Williams.
Man, why did you do that? He's the wizard." Which was met with
boos and laughter. Long Train runnin and Mustang Sally were great!
Everyone enjoyed it.
It was a great show, and I hope they come back this way again!
