Hootie will perform live on the New Year's Eve special on FOX this coming Tuesday from Las Vegas Tuesday, Dec. 31 (11:00 PM-12:30 AM ET). The special will also feature The Doobie Brothers and Salt 'N' Pepa.

The American Music Awards nominees have been anounced and Hootie & The Blowfish are nominated this year in the Pop/Rock category for Favorite Band, Duo or Group. Their competition is Dave Matthews Band and Fugees. The winners will be announced live on Monday, January 27, 1997.

The VH1 artist of the Year Nominee show featuring Hootie will air on Saturday, Dec. 14 from 3:30-4:00pm (EST).
Make sure to call toll free 1-888-444-3624 and vote for Hootie and the Blowfish. There are even prizes such as an entertainment system and all 12 artist of the month CDs. You have to be 21 so if you aren't 21 ask your parents and call for them! Call often!

You can now listen to the entire webcast of the Red Rocks concert at two locations. The first one that seems to sound the best (in RealAudio 3.0) is Liveconcerts.com. You can also hear the concert in Realaudio 2.0 as well as Sad Caper and Be the One at The Music Room at the band's official site.

Apparently Sad Caper and Be The One will be released as one single. I have no other info on that.

A new home video was released on October 29th. It's called "A Series of Short Trips."
Contains:

  • Behind the scenes footage of the making of Hootie's videos and rare in-studio footage. Including all 7 music videos.
  • Candid, previously unreleased interviews with Darius, Mark, Dean and Soni.
  • Backstage and on-the-road footage from their national tour.
  • Includes: 'Hold My Hand,' 'Let Her Cry,' 'Only Wanna Be With You,' 'Time,' 'Old Man & Me (When I Get To Heaven,' 'Tucker's Town,' 'Honeyscrew,' 'She Crawls Away,' 'Be The One,' 'Before the Heartache Rolls In,' 'Araby,' 'I'm Over You,' '16 Runners And No Jim Beam,' and the brand new 'Sad Caper' companion video (which will be credited for on-air play to both 'Fairweather Johnson' and 'A Series of Short Trips.')
It should be available at all major record store-chains, and probably at some of the bigger video stores. I purchased the video for $11.99 at Tower Records.
  • My first Hootie concert was on Wednesday Sept. 18 at the Cal Expo amphitheatre in Sacramento, California. A review is now available!

The Official Hootie site will have diary entries and pictures from the Small Talk Johnson World Tour from the members themselves! Check them out!

The second CD single off of the Fairweather Johnson album, "Tucker's Town" was released on Tuesday, June 25 and also contains a non-album b-side "Araby." The video for Tucker's Town is also airing currently on MTV and VH1. The video was shot in Bermuda in the real Tucker's Town.

Sweet Relief II is now out. Sweet Relief is a benefit album showcasing Vic Chestnutt tunes. It features Nanci Griffith and Hootie & the Blowfish singing "Gravity of the Situation." Sound clips are available on their web site! Those that saw the MTV unplugged, know this will be great. Also on the benefit album are REM, Smashing Pumpkins, Indigo Girls and many others.

The eagerly awaited 2nd major label release by Hootie & the Blowfish is out. The new album is called 'Fairweather Johnson' and was released on Tuesday, April 23rd 1996! I got my hands on it as soon as I could. The following is the track list for the new album:

    • Tucker's Town
    • She Crawls Away
    • So Strange
    • The Old Man & Me
    • The Earth Stopped Cold at Dawn
    • Fairweather Johnson
    • Honeyscrew
    • Let It Breathe

On April 23 Old Man and Me CD Single was released . It is an enhanced CD. When played through your CD-Rom you are supposed to be able to see the video of Old Man and Me. The CD also includes a bonus track, Before the heartache rolls in, not on the album. I got it for $2.99.

More info will be posted as I get it.
