After all of the riots that were required before African-Americans and women were given civil protections, you would think these steps would not be required again. However, this time people are more prone to violence. In a world where children take guns to school, any public demonstration of civil disobedience can quickly turn into a blood bath. Look at what happened in LA after the Rodney King verdict. Now imagine that on a national scale.

     Does the gay community have to resort to violence to get the rights they deserve? I would like to think our society has matured past that point.

     On the other hand, imagine the harmony that can come from a unified society, one where we are all working together toward common goals. One where we do not expend our energies on disenfranchising certain groups, but where all are welcomed and all are invited to contribute.

     The choice is yours, should the world clearly say that 10% of its population is unwelcome and continue the persecution, or do we accept our diversity?
