District 3 1996 Fall Conference
District Governor welcomes dinner guests to Saturday evening Banquet and Humorous Speech Contest
District Governor Terri Sparks, DTM, welcomes District 3 Toastmasters and their
guests to the Saturday evening Banquet and Humorous Speech Contest.

The District 3 1996 Fall Conference was a Presidential visit success.
Organizers estimated approximately 200 guests attended the final Banquet and Humorous
Speech Contest and approximately 150 for the educational sessions.
Highlighting the three day event was a visit by Toastmasters International president, Robert Barnhill, DTM, and his wife Jana Barnhill, DTM. A keynote address by Steve Saffron opened the Saturday program on the right note---a humorous one which many thought was one of the funniest presentations of the day.

Last year's Outstanding Toastmaster, Bob Wagner, achieved a second DTM.

International President Robert Barnhill, DTM, led an educational session in which he called upon attendees to demand the best from their club. The best educational value of Toastmasters happens with good club operation and "You deserve the best!"
Friends see each other again at Conferences. Here, Ernie Hughes, DTM, Paradise Valley, visits long time friend and Outstanding Toastmaster of the Year ('82)Deane Erickson, DTM.

Keynote speaker Steve Saffron scored a win for the Opening Ceremonies with his "Humor at Work. "Believe in humor, look for it, write it down, share it, and keep a humor notebook he advised.

The Conference was an excellent example of how teamwork can pull off a major project, according to District Governor Terri Sparks, DTM. "I was pleased to see the tremendous amount of involvement by our members. They helped make the conference a tremendous success as well as enjoyable for everyone.
The visit by Toastmasters International President Robert Barnhill,
DTM, and his wife Jana Barnhill, DTM, was a contributing factor to the success of the conference. Robert did an educational session, a banquet leadership speech, and played the part of the Lion in the Oz program. Jana received "rave" evaluation reviews for her "Personality Puzzle" educational session.
