You may notice a difference in the Valley Newsletter. I hope so. This issue represents a new idea, at least for me, of producing it. Last month I volunteered to establish a Valley Toastmasters' home page on the internet's world-wide-web. There was a selfish reason for doing so, I admit. It would obligate me to learn a new communication technology. Wow! The idea is working. As I began to prepare the home page and do an issue of the newsletter at the same time, I wondered if items from the newsletter could be included in the web material. However, it did not take long to realize that---that would involve doing the newsletter twice---not so good, I thought. Neither project made much progress, until a new idea crept in; i.e., prepare the newsletter for the web. Once on the web a master can be printed to obtain the copies we distribute to members, guests, and friends. Thus, one fleeting thought---became a "zine!"of an idea! This is the first attempt---the first issue---to be generated in the hyper-text-markup-language (HTML) of the web and reproduced from copies printed off the web. As you can see---it is not your editor's old oldsmobile. The web viewing area on a computer (or tv) monitor and the nature of the web changes layout ideas significantly. Some changes you will like, others, well, I don't either, but that is part of the learning process. It can be said that this is my "web-communication icebreaker." In cyperspace terminology, electronic magazine publications are called "zines." Help me welcome Valley Toastmasters' amazing new adventure in communications! "It is going to be a

Valley moves to the wide open spaces - way
beyond the open range of the west - even beyond 407th Avenue--way out -
all the way to hyper-cyberspace!
On Monday, October 30, the lights were turned on in a new home for Valley---an internet home on the web. In this home page site we will offer visitors information which will let them know about us and the Toastmaster program. It is a new venture for us, one which puts Valley in step with this fast growing high-tech communication arena. Valley's home page and its home page newsletter are "under construction." Isn't "Success always under construction?" |
