Living the Rede

Wiccan Rede
Witches' Rede

"An it harm none, do what you will"

When I first started along this path, I found an article that very much helped me understand the PURPOSE of this statement. It breaks down the rede word by word and makes it a stement of thought rather than a cliche spoken by rote.

Exegesis on the Wiccan Rede

Have you ever taken the time to study what this means or do you take it for granted. I remember when I first began to study the rede that I had a major realization.

To harm none, included myself whether by action or lack thereof. I have a medical condition that requires medication that I do not take as I should. Hence, I am harming myself. (Smoking doesn't help either.) This is not a magical harm, but it is still something I change to live more successfully and to fully incorporate the rede into my life.

I am sure we all have little are in our life that are overlooked or forgotten, or times when we are not as considerate of others as we should be.

The Goddess does not require us to be perfect, only to be more aware of our surrounding and do our best to harm none, including ourselves.
