Book of Shadows
This Book of Shadows is the combined effort of the List Owner, Lyssa and members of the list. This information has been passed along in the sincere hope that it may help others. We do not advocate using magick to hurt others, or to rob someone of their free will. We hope that these spells and rituals would be a tool to help guide you to personal growth, knowlegdge and insight.
You may use these spells as they appear, or as a guideline for creating your own magickal workings. Feel free to adapt any of the following information to suit your own purposes. This is meant mainly as a guideline, a place to start. Information that would help you to perform these rituals, but are not part of the spells themselves, is also included to aid in your understanding, much as it is in my own Book of Shadows.
Much of this information was found on the internet, in various books, or by talking to other witches. Some are original spells and rituals. I have tried to give credit if I know where it came from, but with many things passed along from person to person, the originator is sometimes lost in the shuffle. If I have not given the author credit, it is not meant as a slight or offence, nor do I intend to "steal" another's work. I am simply passing on the information that I have.
If you have questions, comments
or complaints you may contact Lyssa at findingthepath@hotmail.com.
When I hear people talking about "having time to dedicate to the spiritual" I understand fully--and yet... All life is spiritual. When we stand or kneel (or, as I have done, curl into a fetal position, weeping) before our altars, we are practicing our devotion. When we dress our candles, cast our runes, lay out a Tarot spread, read a book, do all those things--we are practicing our craft.
But... aren't we also doing so when, as we wash the dishes, we fill our eyes with the spring tree branches we can see from our window, and marvel at the exact shade of green against that particular lustrous blue sky? Are we not practicing our craft when, as we are cooking dinner for our households, we take just a second to bless the food--to send our love, like a precious ingredient into it? Do we not practice our devotions when we comfort our crying child, scrub our floor joyfully, pet our fur kids, dust our furniture--taking time to stroke the wood--show kindness to a stranger, tell a friend you love her--appreciate something lovely, or offer our energy and time to someone who needs our help in facilitating their own healing?
I guess my question is--when do we *not* practice our craft? I think it might be a mistake to limit what we think of as spiritual only to those things traditionally associated with spirituality or witchcraft. Spirituality is a way of living--an attitude. Witchcraft is a specific approach to all aspects of life. Well, IMHO. Didn't mean to sound like an expert here. Being owned by cats quickly teaches you that you ain't expert in nuthin, at all!
