Blessing and Consecration of the Elements

Adapted from a coven ritual....

Materials:

an incense burner,
a candle,
a vessel of water,
a vessel of salt (or earth).

After each blessing you may proceed in a  deosil direction around the perimeter of the circle, stopping to bow at each of the quarters.

Light incense in burner symbolizing the element of air, focus on the smoke and air

"You are everywhere. You fill the fleshy pouches of my lungs, You stir all things from the smallest blade of grass to the tallest tree. You cool me with your breezes and destroy me with your storms. Without you I would die. You are  holy and worthy of praise."

Light the candle symbolizing the element of fire, focus on the fire

"You live in the guarded embers of campfires and the pilot lights of stoves, you spring from the lightning and the hands of men, you warm me and you destroy me. Without you I would die. You are  holy and worthy of praise."

Dip your fingers in the water vessel symbolizing the element of water, focus on water

"You rise from the moist crevices of the Earth, you beat on the shores
of Her body, you fall from the skies in silver sheets. Without you I would die. You are  holy and worthy of praise."

Asperge  the circle with water

Put your fingers in the salt or earth  symbolizing the element of earth, focus on earth

"You are my Mother. From you comes the fruit and grain and animals which feed me. You are my support, and your pull on my body keeps me held firmly to you. Without you I would die. You are  holy and worthy of praise."

You may now continue with other magical workings, closing the circle when you are complete.
