Dedication
A Consecration Ritual for a Wand

Note: This ritual was written with the wand as a tool representing the south. If it represents the east in your tradition, substitute the consecration of the athame. This may be done with any of these rituals, if your correspondances differ.
 
 

The Altar should be provided with:

a lighted red candle
a red rose
a cup of red wine
a plate of bread and salt
Incense and burner (the incense should be cinnamon, but sandalwood will do as a substitute)
Holy Water
the Wand to be consecrated

The Rite:

Consecrate a circle. Face South. Taking the Wand in your right hand, pass it through the flame of the candle three times. say:
In the Name of the Lord, I purify this Wand with Fire.

With your left hand, sprinkle the Wand with Holy Water three  times. say:
In the Name of the Lady, I purify this Wand with Water.

Then pass the Wand through the incense three times and say:
In the Name of the Lord, I purify this Wand with Air.

Finally sprinkle the Wand with salt three times and say:
In the Name of the Lady, I purify this Wand with Earth.

Holding the Wand up to the sky, say:
Great Father, I call to you in the South, and ask that You  instill the Power of Change in my Wand. (see the power of change entering the Wand)

Great Father, I call to you in the South, and ask that You bestow the Energy of Horus in my Wand.(see energy entering your Wand)

Great Father, I call to you in the South, and ask that You bestow the Enthusiasm of Ptah in my Wand.(see enthusiasm entering your Wand)

Great Father, I call to you in the South, and ask that You bestow the Mobility of Thoth in my Wand.(see mobility entering your Wand)

Holy Mother, I call to you in the South, and ask that You bestow the Imagination of Isis in my Wand.(see imagination entering your Wand)

Holy Mother, I call to you in the South, and ask that You bestow the Beauty of Hathor in my Wand.(see beauty entering your Wand)

Holy Mother, I call to you in the South, and ask that You bestow the Ambition of Nepthys in my Wand.(see ambition entering your Wand)

Know your Wand to be the physical embodiment of these qualities. Lower the Wand. Draw an invoking pentagram of Fire over the Wand and say: By the Lord and by the Lady, this Wand is now a holy tool, purified and consecrated to Your Service. So mote it be.

Wrap the Wand in red silk or cotton for storage.

Close the circle and snuff the candle.

Thus ends the rite.
