"Witch" Crafts
This is taken from Zapcrafts by Nancy Birnes. Safe and non toxic for any use i.e., candles, children's fingerpaints, playdough, homemade soap crayons, egg dye.Nature's Colors
Red:
I c fresh or canned beets, Water to cover
, 2 tsp. vinegar
or 1 c cranberriesWater to cover
If using fresh beets, cover with water
and Zap! in the microwaveon high power for 3 to 5 min or until water boils,
remove beets and peel and chop reserving the juice. Return all to
the juice and soak for 4hours. Strain and measure out 3/4 c and then add
vinegar. If using canned beets, strain out 3/4 c and add vinegar then Zapon
high power for 2 min.
If using cranberries, cover with water
and Zap on high power for 3 min to bring to a boil, then reduce to medium
power for 5 min., mashing the cranberries as they soften. Repeat
the medium cycle, mash cranberries and Zap on medium power for 3 more min.
Remove and strain liquid.
Yellow
Outer skins of 5 yellow onions, 1 c water
or 1 c yellow daffodil, acacia or crocus
blossoms, water to cover
If using yellow onions, Zap! the dark
outer skins in water for 3min or until liquid is dark yellow. Strain
the juice
If using flower blossoms, cover with water
in glass pan, Zap on high power for 3 min or until boiling, cover reduce
to low/ medium power for 25min, strain liquid
Blue
1/2 head red cabbage, chopped, 1 c water
or 1/2 c fresh or canned blueberries,
water to cover
If using cabbage, Zap it in the water
in a covered glass pan on med/low power for at least 15 min. or until the
cabbage turns dark green and is just tender, strain the juice which
will be blue For a darker shade of blue, cover blueberries w/water and
Zap on medium power for 15 min. Mash the berries and strain the juice.
If using canned berries, strain the Juice, warm on low to med power for
3 to 5min,strain again
Purple
1/2 c fresh or frozen blackberries
Use the pulp directly by Zapping frozen
blackberries at defrostor low Power for 10 min and then blending to 30
sec in a blender or foodprocessor, strain the juice
Green
Outer skins of 5 red onions, 1 c water
or 1 cup grass clippings, spinach or moss,
water to cover
If using onions, Zap the outer skins in
a covered glass dish on high power for 3 min to bring to boil and then
on medium power for 4 min, strain the juice If using grass, spinach or
moss, cover with water and Zap onhighpower in a glass pan for 1 min and
then on medium, covered for 3 min.strain the liquid
Brown
1 c coffee grounds or 10 tea bags,1 cup
water
Cover grounds or tea w/ water, Zap on
high power, uncovered in glasspan for 3 min then reduce to med for 5 min,
Remove and strain
