Promise Keeper Picture Show
The pictures you'll find here come from the 1997
conference at Soldier Field in Chicago and the "Stand in the Gap" rally
in Washingtion D.C. I attended both of them, taking notes furiously
the entire time. I filled an 80 page notebook with my observations,
10 of them before the event started.
As usual, pictures fail to really express just how big it felt.
They do, however express certain things quite well. If you look closely,
you'll find that the bleachers behind the stage completely lack people.
Soldier Field did not draw capacity crowds for this event. They filled
maybe half the stadium.
It also fails to capture the excitement of the moment. Promise
Keepers' speakers are very good at moving people. The music mixes
old hymns with praise choruses, backed by a band and singers who clearly
know what they're doing.
Despite the fact that I have mixed feelings about the group, I did find
the conference moving.
