Undaunted, though, those Ephrata members who were left after the Typhus epidemic and the fire, sent wagonloads of food to Valley Forge for General Washington’s starving soldiers. They also tore up their rare arcane books and sent them on to the front—in scraps so that our soldiers could use them for wadding for cartridges and go on fighting for America's independence!
