Today has certainly not proceeded as usual. Anne directed two people to my workplace to declare themselves and try to jumpstart their places in our society. It is not as if it is difficult in this pitiful little town. I have only been here for six weeks, and I have replaced the prince of thirty seven years. The total lack of organization lends itself to all of the problems Staunton hosts. Perhaps if the sheriff had done his job, then much of the event of late could have been avoided. Even if I choose not to blame him for failing to protect the sanctity of Elysium in the Keeper's absence as he was instructed to do, he is still obviously failing to preserve the traditions. I can let the matter of the multiple unacknowledged kindred in the area slide, as Prince Marnikov's notes were in poor enough order that it is fully possible that most were presented to her at some point in the past. However, there should not be unapproved progeny popping up here and there, much less ducks.

I have decided to direct Lydia to Rafaelo's whereabouts. In his disempowered state, now that I have informed the Senitial of Los Angelos that Rafaelo will not be returning to the position of prince, he does not stand so valuable an ally as does Lydia. It is a shame about the broken chair, too. One of a kind is not easily compensated.

I am frustrated with my halting progress in my research. If Prince Marnikov had the sense to keep decent blood samples of her subjects... but I shall have to deal with the difficulties on my own. Perhaps I will initiate a Camp Sundown here as well. It was such a boon to the Masqerade where I have been before, so maybe I will try again. Even if the nightlife does not get involved, the publicity should stimulate more interest in my research on xeroderma pigmentosum.
