About us
EastGators is a project of the Sports Reporting class at the University of Florida's College of Journalism and Communications. It is intended entirely as a learning tool for apprenticed journalists enrolled in the JOU 4313C Specialized Reporting class in the Spring of 2004. All of the contents on this site are created by the students of that class. The students are displaying their best work from that class on a variety of sports topics, issues and news. The staff welcomes your comments. Please send them to the e-mail address below. EastGators is an open-forum publication. The views and ideas presented here do not represent those of the University of Florida or the College of Journalism and Communications. Students cover events, research issues, report on beats on their own. Copy is turned into the editorial board for editing before being posted on this Web site. The title EastGators comes from the fact that students at UF enter Ben Hill Griffin Stadium through the East Gates of Florida Field. An East side of the stadium viewpoint informs out work on this Web site. Accordingly, we are not just writing about Gator football, but all of the sports and recreation that takes place in Gainesville, one of the best sports towns in the country. |
