The B.E.F. serving in france in 1914 consisted of 3 Corps which was made up of 2 divisions each. The units were arranged as follows:

First Corps

1st Brigade consisted of: 1st Coldstream Guards, 1st Scots Guards, 1st Black Watch, 2nd Royal Munster Fusiliers, and 1st Cameron

2nd Brigade consisted of: 2nd Royal Sussex Regt., 1st Loyal North Lancashire Regt., 1st Northamptonshire Regt., and 2nd KRRC.

3rd Brigade consisted of: 1st Queens Royal West Surrey Regt., 1st South Wales Borderers, 1st Gloucestershire Regt., 1st Welch Regt., various artillery units, A Squadron 15th Hussars, and 1st Cyclist Company.

2nd Division, Maj. Gen. C.C. Monro commanding

4th Brigade consisted of: 2nd Grenadiers Guards, 2nd Coldstream Guards, 3rd Coldstream Guards, and 1st Irish Guards.

5th Brigade consisted of: 2nd Worcestershire Regt., 2nd Oxs and Bucks Light Infantry, 2nd Highland Light Infantry, 2nd Connaught Rangers.

6th Brigade consisted of: 1st Kings Regt., 2nd Staffordshire Regt., 1st Royal Berkshire Regt., 1st KRRC, various artillery units, B Squadron 15th Hussars, and 2nd Cyclist Company.

Second Corps

3rd Division, Maj. Gen. Hubert I. W. Hamilton commanding

7th Brigade consisted of: 3rd Worcestershire Regt., 2nd South Lancashire Regt., 1st Duke of Edinburgh's Wiltshire Regt., and 2nd Royal Irish Rifles.

8th Brigade consisted of: 2nd Royal Scots, 2nd Royal Irish Regt., 4th Middlesex Regt., 1st Gordon Highlanders, and 1st Devonshire Regt.

9th Brigade consisted of: 1st Northumberland Fusiliers, 4th Royal Fusiliers, 1st Lincolnshire Regt., 1st Royal Scots Fusiliers, various artillery units, C Squadron 15th Hussars, and 3rd Cyclist Company.

5th Division Maj. Gen. Sir C. Fergusson commanding

13th Brigade consisted of: 2nd King's Own Scottish Borderers, 2nd Duke of Wellington's West Riding Regt., 1st Queen's Own Royal West Kent Regt., 2nd King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry.

14th Brigade consisted of: 2nd Suffolk Regt., 1st East Surrey Regt., 1st Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry, and 2nd Manchester Regt.

15th Brigade consisted of: 1st Norfolk Regt., 1st Bedfordshire Regt. 1st Cheshire Regt., various artillery units, A Squadron 19th Hussars, and 5th Cyclist Company.

Third Corps
Maj. Gen. W. P. Pulteney commanding
4th Division, Maj. Gen. T. D. O'Snow commanding

10th Brigade consisted of: 1st Royal Warwickshire Regt., 2nd Seaforth Highlanders, 1st Irish Fusiliers, and 2nd Royal Dublin Fusiliers.

11th Brigade consisted of: 1st Somerset Light Infantry, 1st East Lancashire Regt., and 1st Rifle Brigade.

12th Brigade consisted of: 1st King's Own Royal Lancashire Regt., 2nd Lancashire Fusiliers, 2nd Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, and 2nd Essex Regt.

6th Division, Maj. Gen. J. L. Keir commanding

16th Brigade consisted of: 1st East Kent Regt. (The Buffs), 1st Leicestershire Regt., 1st King's Shropshire Light Infantry, and 2nd Yorks and Lancs Regt.

17th Brigade consisted of: 1st Royal Fusiliers, 1st North Staffordshire Regt., 2nd Leinster Regt. (Royal Canadian), and 3rd Rifle Brigade.

18th Brigade consisted of: 1st West Yorkshire Regt., 1st East Yorkshire Regt., 2nd Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regt., 2nd Durham Light Infantry, various artillery units, C Squadron 19th Hussars, and 6th Cyclist Company.

19th Brigade consisted of: 2nd Welsh Fusiliers, 1st Cameronians, 1st Middlesex Regt. and 2nd Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders.

Cavalry Division
Maj. Gen. E. H. H. Allenby commanding

1st Brigade consisted of: 2nd Dragoons Guards, 5th Dragoons Guards, 11th Hussars, 1st Signal Troop.

2nd Brigade consisted of: 4th Dragoon Guards, 9th Lancers, 18th Hussars, 2nd Signal Troop.

3rd Brigade consisted of: 4th Hussars, 5th Lancers, 16th Lancers, 3rd Signal Troop.

4th Brigade consisted of: Composite Regt. Household Cavalry, 6th Dragoon Guards, 3rd Hussars, 4th Signal Troop.

5th Brigade consisted of: Royal Scots Greys, 12th Lancers, 20th Hussars, 5th Signal Troop, and various artillery units.

Royal Flying Corps

2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th Squadrons

Miscellaneous Army Troops

A Squadron North Irish Horse, C Squadron North Irish Horse, B Sqaudron South Irish Horse, 1st Battalion Cameron Highlanders, Seige Artillery, 3 Signal Companies, 5 Air-Line Sections, 11 Cable Sections, and 1 Wireless Section.
