. Uncle Tom Goes Inceniary . The best way to understand Colin Powell's actions is to think of them as alpha male primate behavior. How could he support civil rights and at the same time terrorize civillians in Vietnam? "While success against the armed enemy was rare, Powell's ARVN unit punished the civilian population systematically. As the soldiers marched through mountainous jungle, they destroyed the food and the homes of the region's Montagnards, who were suspected of sympathizing with the Viet Cong. Old women would cry hysterically as their ancestral homes and worldly possessions were consumed by fire." [1] "We burned down the thatched huts, starting the blaze with Ronson and Zippo lighters," Powell recalled. [1] How could he steal 400 Tow missiles and send them to the Atatollah without getting in trouble? "The notes also revealed that Gen. Colin Powell, Weinberger's senior military aide, and Richard L. Armitage, assistant secretary of defense for international security affairs, also had detailed knowledge of the 1985 shipments from Israeli stocks. Armitage and Powell had testified that they did not learn of the November 1985 HAWK missile shipment until 1986." [4] How could he lie about it to a Senate investigation and have the nerve to accept an admistation position? Carl Sagan's book "Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors" offers many explanations of the anti-intellectual alpha malle by examing animal studies. "Being human, we might also imagine the pleasures of a well run social machine in which everybody knows his place, in which nobody gets out of line and causes trouble, in which deference and respect for superiors is routinely shown. Depending on whether we come from a more democratic or a more authoritarian upbringing, schooling, or society, we might feel that the benifits of the dominace hierarchy outweigh any affront to freedom and dignity, or vice versa."[2] "To play the hierarchy game, at the very least you must be able to remember who's who, to recognize rank, and to make the appropriate responses, dominant or submissive as circumstances dictate."[2] When advancing in the ranks of a dominance network, it is sometimes helpfull to abuse lower ranking members and members of rival gangs. Powell says: "First you seize power, then you consolidate power, then you use power." The key evidence was handwritten notes of Weinberger, which he deliberately withheld from Congress and the OIC until they were discovered by Independent Counsel in late 1991. The Weinberger daily diary notes and notes of significant White House and other meetings contained highly relevant, contemporaneous information that resolved many questions left unanswered in early investigations. The notes demonstrated that Weinberger's early testimony that he had only vague and generalized information about Iran arms sales in 1985 was false, and that he in fact had detailed information on the proposed arms sales and the actual deliveries. The notes also revealed that Gen. Colin Powell, Weinberger's senior military aide, and Richard L. Armitage, assistant secretary of defense for international security affairs, also had detailed knowledge of the 1985 shipments from Israeli stocks. Armitage and Powell had testified that they did not learn of the November 1985 HAWK missile shipment until 1986. http://coursesa.matrix.msu.edu/~hst203/documents/iran.html
I have been doing research in Evolitionary Psychology, and the past behavior of Colin Powell and his gang. I have had some breakthroughs in understaing the redneck ingorant rustic peasant (and sometimes Uncle Tom) viewpoint. The ignorant macho redneck likes to kill small birds and animanls for fun. Also, the high ranking alpha male in that community enhances his feeling of masculinity by pushing around htose of lower rank, as when Colin Powell terrorized local villagers and burned several villages (by his own admission). They percieve their arch-enemy to be intelligent, liberal, intellectuals. Twenty years ago, the enemy the were most concerned about was communism, but Falwell and other anal=retentives have moved the enemy to the new target of liberals who think it's ok to enjoy sex. _________________________________________________________ Freud and Maslow An Analysis of Political Parties With Reference to Freud and Maslow . The lowest level of Maslow's hierarcy of needs is the survival level. This corresponds to Freuds anal retentive level. People operating on this level like guns and violence better than sex and pleasure, and tend to be authoritarian and conservative, and even feel proud of their backwards outlook. Freud would say they need more therapy. The next level on Maslow's hierarcy of needs corresponds with Freud's "genital" personality type. This type of person tends to like sex and pleasure. They tend to avoid military service, and hold liberal political views. Freud would say they are healthy.
