What's New (Progress Reports) From before July of 1998
11/17/98
This weekend, I found God I guess you could say. I have been praying with him on and off for over a year now, but now I am a born again Christian. And, as part of this, I am not sure if I can finish Joyous Rebel 2. Maybe someday, but not right now. But, I know that a lot of you have waited a long time to see this game. I am going to post a version tonight called Joy2demo.zip. It contains the game as it is now. Someday I might put in the final touches to finish it, and release that freeware.
You maybe asking yourself what this means for Axe Productions, well, right now, I am not sure. I am searching for a new name for my company, and am really enjoying home design software, so I may get into that. Or maybe I will do children's Bible games, or I still love racing games, and things that don't go against the ten commandments (one of which being "Thou shalt not kill"). So, I can still see me out there doing software. I just don't know what right now.
Please respect my decision, and enjoy Joyous Rebel 2 for everything that it is, and everything that it could have been. You will hear more from me someday, I just don't know doing what, or how.
Peace and may God be with you,
scott

Turmoil mayhem at work..... not able to think about much, trying to watch a lot of movies so I don't have to think about not having a job whenever they ask me to leave.
Frankie Yankovic passed away this morning. I am listening to the only album of his I have right now, it's called "48 Polka and Waltz Medley", the only too bad thing is that the whole thing is played to a drum loop or drum machine. And there are no fills or anything just "doom...shhhh...pah.........doom...shhh...pah" on and on. But someday I will probably check out a "real" album by him. I hope one day to give him a high five in Heaven for putting Polka in the awards. He was the first person to win a Grammy for a polka tune.
A hamster that I gave to a friend passed away today too.
I am going to work on Joyous 2 for a little bit now, then probably go read for awhile and go to sleep.

Wooo... Somebody hasn't updated in awhile! :) But, anyhow, my work place is closing down, so I will be out of a job at some point here, but Joyous 2 is almost ready for the testing of the final version, then it's going out to all of you, so keep those encouraging e'mails coming, and we can all sit back and play a few games of Joyous 2 shortly! :)

I got the monster files created for all 4 dungeons/worlds, and the code using them. Now I just need to get the graphics drawn up. And I got all the parts that the engine won't like out of the dungeons.
8/24/98
Well, the dungeons are all layed out, just need to throw in a couple of torches!!!!!
So all the maps are basically done now for Joyous 2!!!!!!!
Things left:
1) dungeon dressing and tweaking
2) 36 monster drawings and stats
3) 3 dungeons of monster placement
4) ending animation
5) a few story elements
6) various tweeks (speaking techniquely! :) )
so joyous is getting done, and the tension is mounting if I will have a new house in 2 days (I might be closing on Thursday), I don't know if I want it or not right now, too much thinking, we'll just see if it goes through. Then it's off to finish Joyous 2.
My friend Jo and I are working on proto-typing the Joyous 3 engine. If everything works out, he will be doing the programming, so I can focus on graphics, sound, design, map layout, all that other stuff. We'll see what happens, but it looks good so far!
8/6/98 - Neil Peart's wife died of cancer recently. Neil is Rush's drummer and lyricist. My prayers go to him, and this horrible loss! I hope he can continue with his music, let it bring him strength as it has so many others.
8/4/98 - Toad the Wet Sprocket broke up, the lady that did Lamb Chop died, and Dungeon 4 is underway! "Which of these things ain't like the others?" :)
Dungeon 4 is a complex peice of work, not too much more complex than the first three, but it's going to take time. Right now I just like watching music videos, and Biography's of rockstars, and playing Racing Games on my Playstation. Stuff gets done everynight, but it just isn't exciting enough to post, "Did 1/500th of the dugeon last night!" each day.
Work keeps on a rolling, and this game will get finished.
7/13/98 - DUNGEON 3 IS DONE!!! Party at your house! I am now off to finish Duneon 4 (which first involves starting it, but that's just further details :) ). I am going to take another break from Joyous 2 over the next week, but this week I seem to be commited again. Look forward to much progress, except when I am looking at houses and watching movies!
"Who da Lize?"
"You Da Lize!"
"What did the programmer say when he first changed diapers?"
"C.P.U."
"Wrnt wrnt wrnt!"
7/7/98 - Dungeon 3 is closer to being done, I actually worked on it last night! I think a good solid 2-3 days of 1-2 hours each could possibly finish off dungeon 3's layout.
