Wonderland's calling behind the bright veil
A hovering smile, to Cheshire I go
And Alice is carried away by the gale
with fifty two soldiers all smart in their row.

The Hatter so harried the Rabbit so rushed
Woe to the Queen and all hail the tarts
and, as Alice enters, the public is hushed
while the prince all aghast to his dark shadows darts.

Would you reign in our kingdom? would you don the bright crown?
We'd bow to your charm, to your laughter and joy
Our fates have been woven upon your white gown
so accept our scepter, please, we pray, don't be coy.

...Now all is quiet and all wait with fears
as out in the world a lone princess stirs...

O! Humpty is shattered - all our wishes are broken
The Griffin is loose, and is chasing our mounts
And Twiddle-Di-Dum into Twiddle has tumbled
while the Queen rushes in to collect her accounts.

The kingdom is falling, our dreamland is fading
The masons of sleep are reshaping our sands
And as the Snark flees - our grim fate evading,
All the kings and one man come to play their last hand.

Oh Alice our maker, oh goddess of fools
the wind has swept clouds as we lived in your dream
for your joy we have judged - and for you we broke rules
Now the tapestry's rent, and we're lost in a seam.

Awake and Awake, the wide grin has faded
The sun has struck noon and the day-dream is gone
Was it true? was it false? - Have this question evaded
in your mind we still hunt - you need never be lone.

And the golden light highlights your tumble of gold
as you rise from your soft hazy bed of grass,
And one slipper is left, so our fables have told
Where we - Dreams - would dance on, in a palace of glass.
