Anyway these are my
predictions for the World Cup...........
Brazil
The obvious favourites
for the World Cup. They have everything a soccer team needs...Speed from
Ronaldo and Denilson, Flair from Juninho, Super strikers from Edmundo,
Romario and Ronaldo, A dead ball specialists in Roberto Carlos, experienced
players in Dunga and Romario. This team is invincible........
But recently luck
is not on their side with the injury of Juninho and Denilson.
Their team has lost
2 great players. The lost to US in the recent Gold Cup sums up their streak
of bad luck. This team would most probably make it to the finals but may
not win the World Cup.
England
One of the bookmakers'
favourite choice for winning the World Cup, due to the recent good form
it is in by winning Italy and many more teams.....It is a very youthful
team with new international players playing for the first time in the World
Cup. People like Beckham, Butt, Scholes, Campbell, Southgate, Dublin and
of course Michael Owen. They show lots of potential especially with David
Beckham taking the dead balls and Owen with his acceleration and speed.
This may be the team that will win the World Cup since 1966.
France
The host for the 1998
World Cup and an underrated team. Being the host for the World Cup is a
major advantage in a game where home support can raise the moral and fighting
spirit of the team. They have a good set of first team players which are
playing in many major leagues in the World. People like Zidane, Djorkaeff,
Ibrahim Ba .............Individually definitely a threat with such skillful
players but as a team not that cohesive and that might be their stumbling
block for a title as World champions. One of my best bets to win the World
Cup.
Italy
One of history's greatest
teams. They possess the best league in the world and
have many top players
with great World Cup experience. Their captain Paolo Maldini is undoubtly
the best defender in the world today. But like Brazil, it is being hit
with a streak of bad luck. They only just make it to the world cup quarter
finals with minimum points and are playing badly. No reason to be looked
down on, but may lose games due to their poor form and bad luck.
Holland
A team with a great
history of football. With the likes of Gullit, Van Basten heading the endless
list of legends in football. Today it's team is restructured but still
good. They have new inclusions of Edgar Davids, Patrik Kluivert......
and the deadly and
on form Berkamp and Overmars. They posess a world standard of speed, skill
and team work. A team to watch out for.
Germany
Yet another football
giant like Holland and Italy. Their present team is an old but experienced
team, with many players who have played in the previous World Cup in Atlanta.
Players like Klinsmann and Hassler. Not a bad choice to reach the finals
with the on form strikers of bieroff and Klinsmann but lack that something
to win the World Cup.
