Chakras, and the enneagram

Life stages are in turn linked with chakras .... Another way of looking at the personality enneagram is as a wrapping of the chakras around the process enneagram. I prefer the approach through the life-span enneagram however as there are different schools regarding the chakras. There is disagreement as to which chakra is associated with which life stage, how many chakras there are (usually 7), what their functions and attributes are, and doubtless other things I haven't thought of. What is reasonably clear though is that they are closely related to Gurdjieff's "centres". Also it seems reasonably clear that they are linked to the alchemical planets/metals. I will advance (and hopefully be able to modify because of your critique or corrections) a harmony of the chakras and Gurdjieff's centres and relate that to the enneagram. Also I hope to investigate the relationship of planetary symbolism to Gurdjieff's centres and to show that this investigation yields useful information. I believe for example that Gurdjieff associated "Mars" with what he called the 'Higher Thinking Centre' and that this is helpful in understanding his magnum opus "Beelzebub's Tales" and also some stuff nearer home.......The Higher Thinking Centre in turn has (I will argue) a special connection with the Brow Chakra, and the Enneagram Type 1 personality, and the TI point on the life-span enneagram... And so on.
I'm not, I hope, engaged in purposeless syncretism. The knowledge is scattered and we must connect it as best we can.

Speaking of syncretism......

Fact is, syncretism can be crazy-making. Trying to make correspondences between one abstract system and another is a very suitable pursuit for present and aspiring paranoid schizophrenics.
For all that......finding the connections between systems is important. Useful information is hidden in many traditional esoteric systems but for some reason the "official" custodians of those systems don't seem good at keeping them alive. Its not a new phenomenon. The Pharisees seem to have been custodians of a forerunner of Kabbalah; and as Jesus remarked they became like dogs in a manger, that neither ate themselves nor allowed others to eat. Gurdjieff was a synthesizer, a reformulator, a stealer of knowledge, a breaker of codes. In the present time (at least) I think we all have to be a bit like that.

So without further preamble I will blurt out the Chakra/Enneagram Synthesis as I see it at this moment. I do not at present have time to justify the following in detail...so at this moment I'll just pass on my interim results. The 'planets' are alchemical rather than astrological. Kether, Gevurah etc through to Malkuth are "sephira" of the Kabbalistic Tree which is widely recognised to correspond to the enneagram. (My particular attributions may well be controversial however)
