SKILLS AND ABILITIES.:

As a result of my graduate studies in linguistics, I have a good background in English grammar, phonetics, discourse analysis, and second language acquisition theory. I have had a wide variety of teaching experience, and I have taught all ages of students. I also have had valuable experience in designing, developing and implementing curriculum, including co-writing and helping to edit the academic reading textbooks Web Watching the World and Who's Who on the Web. I also worked as a teacher trainer at Tohoku Foreign Language College. I am hard-working, flexible, creative, and professional. I have been an active member of JALT (Japan Association for Language Teaching) for four years. As a member of JALT, I have been introduced to numerous teaching ideas which I have been able to successfully implement in my classroom. I regularly use IBM and Apple computers to develop my own teaching materials. I fully understand the need for teachers to motivate their students. In addition to teaching, I am also interested in working as a writer and editor. One of my undergraduate degrees is in journalism. My major field of study in journalism was magazine writing. I have published a variety of articles in American newspapers, journals, and magazines.
