Resolved That the sum of two hundred and fifty
Dollars be raised for the purpose of repairing
he Poor house
Resolved that the sum of eight hundred dollars be
raised for the Support of the Poor
Resolved That the question first taken be reconsidered
by which the first resolution was lost
Resolved that fifteen hundred Dollars be raised
for the Purpose of Building a poor house
Resolved That the Officers to be voted for by Ballot
be all put on one ticket
Resolved That there be five Assessors chosen
Resolved That there be four Constables chosen
Resolved That there be ten Pound Masters and
fence viewers chosen

Resolved That the sum of twenty Dollars be raised
for the purpose of purchasing additional Books
and Stationery & also a trunk or Chest & for the
purpose trouble of revising and preserving the records and
files of the town.
Resolved That the overseers of the poor together with
Andrew Dewitt, John D. Lawson, Eleazar Gidney
and Henry Butterworth be and they are hereby
appointed Commissioners to Superintend and
direct the building of a poor house and to take
the whole management of the same.
Resolved that no ram shall be permitted to run
at large from the fifteenth day of August to the
tenth day of November under the penalty of
ten Dollars.

I, John J. Underhill Clark of School District No 6
in the Town of Newburgh in the County of Orange
do Solomly & Sincerly promise and declare that
I will faithfully and honestly keep all the Books,
Records, writings, and papers by virtue of my said
Office of district Clerk Committ[ed] and which shall
from time to time to [ ] be committed unto me and
in all things to the best of my Knowledge and
understanding well and faithfully perform the duty
of my Said Office of district Clerk without favour
or partialty - A true Coppy -

To the Commissioners of Common Schools of
The Town of Newburgh in the County of Orange -
We the undersigned inhabitants of the north
Westerly part of said town living at a distance highly
inconvenient from the site fixed upon for the School house
in the district in which we Reside, and many of us
having Contributed towards the building of a School house
in the town of Shawangunk, in the County of Ulster
Contiguous, and where we formerly have, and now
do Send our children to School, and being desirous
to Continue Sending our Children to Said School by
Reason of its Convenience to us, and also to be benefited
in Common with out fellow Citizen by the fund
appointed for the Support of Common Schools by
The Legislature. Do therefore humbly request G[ ]
to Authorize them to be set off from the district
in which they Reside and to be attached to and
become a Component part of the Said district in the
town of Shawangunk in Ulster County
Note. The part set off is Bounded
as follows viz
Beginning at the Northeast
corner of the Lands of Wm Garley and
runs in a Southerly direction along the
line of the patent granted to William
Bradford Senr to the Southeasterly
Corner of a farm occupied by John
Kilpatrick thence a due west[ward]
to the Ulster county line

The petition of the undersigned humbly sho[weth]
that we the undersigned being inhabitants of the Town of Newburgh
and part of District No 3 and part of No 5 in the town of
Marlborough consider our Selves aggrieved by the Present division
of said district No 3 inasmuch as we the undersigned are
thereby Removed too far from the Schoolhouse in Said district
No 3. That therefore we pray that we the undersigned may be
Set off in another district in order that we may thereby
attach ourselves to a part of said district No 5 in the
Town of Marlborough to be sett of for that purpose - and
that the bounds of Said division may be as follows Viz
Begining at the Easterly bounds of Wm Jennings land
thence running Southerly including the lands of John
Dubois, Caleb Fowler & Joshua Conklin. Westerly including
including the lands of Mary Bloomer, Caleb FowlerNortherly including the lands of [fettery] Bloomer & Caleb
Fowler Jacob Cassman, Gilbert Kniffen then Easterly
with the County line to the place of beginning -

Sawmill Stands on until it comes opposite
of Saml Griggs North Line thence along

and plattekill Turnpike road thence

At a meeting of the Commissioners of Common Schools
for the town of NewBurgh on the 20th of April 1[ ]
The former Commissioners having paid over the su[m]
of $254.66 which remained in their hands unapp[ro-]
-priated together with the reports of districts No one, t[wo,]
three, ten, eleven, twelve, fourteen and the Norther[n]
part of number nine annexd to number two in t[he]
town of Shawengunk, as having been received before [the]
1st day of April. Resolved that said sum and all othe[r]
sums to be received with the year and to be divid[ed]
according to law among the above numbered districts.
Resolved that a notice be given to call a meeting of
the inhabitants of district number 13, the former m[eet-]
-ing of the inhabitants of said district having in th[e]
opinion of the Commissioners been dissolved by not
attending at the time adjourned.
