We the Undersigned Commissioners of Common
Schools for the Towns of Plattekill & New-
Burgh have resolved to form a new School district
partly from Districts No 7 and 9 in the Town
of Newburgh and partly from Districts No
1 and 2 in the Town of Plattekill the said
new District to be known and distinguished
as No 13 in the Town of Plattekill and as No
3 in the Town of NewBurgh the said new dis-
trict is described and bounded as follows
Beginning at the Highway in the south line
of John T Birdsall in the Town of NewBurgh
and runs westerly untill it strikes the
south East corner of the land of Henry Jones
and then in company with the south line of
the said Jones untill it strikes the west line
of the land of Daniel Jones. Then north and
as said Jones line runs to the County line it
being the line of the land of Caleb Birch then
west in company with the county line to
said Birch south west corner then north in
company with the line of said Birch and
others untill it strikes the north line of
Benoni Coutant then Easterly along said line
to the lands of Jonathan strickland Stricklandthen north in company with the west line of
said Strickland to the south line of David Sherwood then easterly
in company with said Sherwood line to the land
of Jonathan M Strickland and in company with
the line of of said Strickland and others to the
Highway then with a straight line untill it strikes
the Bridge that crosses the Mill Pond of Silas
Seam[en] then in company with the Highway
untill it strikes the land of Gilbert Lockwood
then westerly in company with the Highway the north line of said Lockwood
until
and others to the place of beginning
over

Common Schools for the Town of NewBurgh
I the subscriber pray for the aid of the
Commissioners to set off my farm from
school district No 14 unto district No 2
described as follows beginning at Gilbert
Williams corner in the road leading from
NewBurgh to Latin Town along said road
north 21 chains and 50 links to the lands
of the Heirs Caleb Fowler thence East in company
with said lands thence south and Daniel
Tookers lands thence south in company
with Nathaniel Barnes then west along the
lands of said Barnes and Timothy Wood
to the place of Beginning being all
the farm that the subscriber now lives on
and in so doing you will oblidge your
humble petioner

To the commissioners of common schools for the Town of
Newburgh - Your petitioners inhabitants inhabitants
of the said town; the one an occupant and the other
owner beg leave to state that the western part of the
farm of Peter V.B. Fowler, now occuped by Joseph Halsted
and laying within the bounds of school district no 14
is so inconvenient to that school house that the occupant
does not nor cannot send there & has not for the last ten years
but very little. We therefore the owner and occupant pray your
honors, to set off the said buildings occupied by Joseph Halsted
together with one hundred & one acres of land of the western
end of said Peter V.B. Fowlers farm. Said bounds to be
agreeable to a map made by S Parmenter in 1833 and
annex or set it to district no 2 of Said Town

This is to certify that we the trustees of district
No 2 join in and approve of the above application

In accordance of the above application and consent,
we the commissioners of Common Schools for the town
of Newburgh do hereby declair that from this day
all that part of the farm of Peter V.B. Fowler which
lies northerly and west of a line beginning at a stake in the
side of the road & [ ] [ ] the line between district
number fourteen and district number two
and running thence south thirty five degrees
east two chains twenty six links thence south
eighty six and half degrees east eight chains
ninety one links to a Black Oak Tree thence
north north twenty five degrees east eighteen
chains and eight links to the southwest corner
of John DuBois farm & thence along the
same north one degree fifteen minutes east
thirteen chains to the lands of William Cosman
which now forms part of district number fourteen
shall be annexed and form part of school
district Number two and the line of said
district are hereby altered accordingly
