To the honorable Commissioner of Common School
for the Town of NewBurgh

We the subscribers Trustees of Districts No 13 and
12 considering it would promote the Interest of
Education that the western part of District No 13
should become a part of and be attached to district
No 12 on account of its proximity and the great dispar-
ity in the number of Scholars belonging to each wish
You to take the subject under consideration and
sett off to District No 12 so much of the western
part of District No 13 as in your judgment may be cond-
ucive to the interest of Common Schools

December 9th 1826

The Trustees of School Districts No 12 and 13 having
by their Joint petition dated Nov 20 1826 presented
us Commissioners of Common Schools for the Town
of NewBurgh prayed that the westerly part of district
No 13 be annexed to and form a part of district No twelve
and we having examined the situation of said Districts
do deem it proper and and therefore order and direct that
all that part of district No 13 lying westerly of the
lines hereinafter mentioned will be and the same
is hereby annexed to and made part of district number
twelve in the same manner as if the same originally
formed a part of said district and the same lines shall
hereafter be & form the west line of District No thirteen
which said line shall begin at a point in the North
[side] of District Number Thirteen due North from Lime
stone hill and run thence south to where the

 

Turnpike road crosses said Lime Stone hill and thence
Southerly along the east side of said to the road leading
from the Methodist Meeting house pass Capt Gidney's
thence southerly and easterly along said road to west line
of Martin Wells Glebe Lot thence south along the west
line of said Lot to the south west corner thereof
thence southerly to a point of the NewBurgh
& Cochecton Turnpike road one Rod east of [Tam-]
many's Coopers Shop and thence due south to
Chambers Creek And we do direct that a record
be made of this alteration that all persons
interested may govern themselves accordingly
