Life with Jeff
July 5
Last night we were watching the news on tv. I noticed that the reporters eyes were not cemetrical to the rest of her face. (You can't help but notice every detail on a reporters face when you're watching the news.) So I say to Jeff "did you know that if a persons eyes are not semetrical with the rest of their face, like theres a big space between their eyes, that means that alcoholism runs in their family." (Maybe its not true, but I know I read that someplace). "Also, if you have an extra grissel on your earlobe that is a sign that mental illness runs in your family." To which Jeff replied, " Did you know that if you call this (pointing at his ear) a grissel its a sign that you are from Kentucky."
I am from Kentucky.

A large tree (20 ft. tall) fell in our back yard late last night. This evening Jeff and I were sitting in the backyard discussing the event. We have a medium sized husky that we have on a dog run in the yard and this was the tree that the line was connected to. Because it had stormed prior to the fall of the tree, Alice (the husky) was safe in her dog house. The tree came within 5 inches of hitting the house. Alice's house is against ours.
Poor Alice had gotten lose once a few years back and was gone for weeks before we found her. She had caused a seven car pile up on a major highway causing her to lose the use of her right back leg.
I asked Jeff how could this huge tree just up and fall. I knew that we had a storm but it didnt seem like a really bad one to me. There were no tornados or high winds. Yet this tree came out of the ground...roots and all!
We were talking about how lucky Alice was that she was in her dog house at the time. I told Jeff not to tell the landlord that we had the dog line hooked to that tree. To which Jeff replied "If a three legged dog can pull a twenty foot tree out of the ground that must be one powerful dog."
Must have been the puppy chow.
