Our light is darkness compared to the Sun of Righteousness...

("for we are not pouring out our petitions before Thee on account of our righteousness but on account of Thy great compassions." Daniel 9:18b)

"we are comets"

we are occasional comets of deviant dust and
variant light of ice who
casually flaunt our borrowed beauty in darkdeep skies
for hungry eyes to search

but our light is friction
not fusion
our light is a once-in-a-century
halo

we are dust
we are ice
we only shine with cast-off glow
we are balls of fury

Sun burst on our off-planet pretense,
our tailspin dance of faux-star foolery,
infuse our coldlight with nuclear baths
of compassion’s enrapture
and make us one with the
Sun of Righteousness--
Wings-of-healing recapture our
garbagetruck comet-life with your
out of proportion flares,
Your eternal gravity to pull us into
You - bright against bright in the light
OneStar, OnlyStar, MorningStar
love.

Jesus, shine in me,
